It Makes You Feel “Lonely”
Kelly Clarkson put her own spin on the deeply vulnerable Justin Bieber song. Bieber’s song speaks to his feelings of being a public figure at an early age and the sense of loneliness felt as a result. Clarkson’s interpretation emphasizes the song’s sentiment and the emotion resonates in each note.Â

With the accompaniment of her music director Jason Halbert on piano, Clarkson’s version has an even slower tempo adding to the somberness. Her vocals lend the song deeper emotion as she showcases her talent that we’ve all come to love. It’s most felt as she closes out the song, belting out the title word “lonely.”
Kelly Covers Them All
The moving Justin Bieber cover is just another addition to her talk show’s popular segment, “Kellyoke.” On the segment, the original American Idol covers a myriad of hits from nearly any genre. The Bieber song is his second to get covered on the show. Previously she covered his more upbeat track “Sorry” back in November.
Every time, Clarkson delivers an amazing cover of a song on this daily show feature. It doesn’t matter what genre, she proves to make her voice work to any beat. Under the “Kellyoke” segment, she has covered artists ranging from Whitney Houston, Ed Sheeran, Lizzo, and even fellow American Idol Carrie Underwood to name a few.
