On Wednesday night, The Masked Singer Season 12 returned for the Quarterfinals, as the contestants who made it through from Groups A, B, and C went head to head for the chance to move on. At the end of the night, Goo was eliminated and unmasked as football player Kobie Turner.
Who Made It Through The Masked Singer Quarterfinals?
There were four contestants remaining for Wednesday’s Quarterfinals — Wasp, Goo, Buffalos, and Strawberry Shortcake. They each delivered a solo performance for their chance to earn enough votes to take them to the Semifinals.
The two contestants who were automatically sent through were Wasp and Buffalos. During the show, Wasp performed “Standing Next to You” by Jungkook, while Buffalos harmonized on Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One.”
That left Goo and Strawberry Shortcake to duke it out in a Smackdown to determine who should stay in the competition. Strawberry Shortcake’s performance of “Scars to Your Beautiful” by Alessia Cara was enough to earn them a spot in the Semifinals. Earlier in the show, they impressed with a cover of “Closer” by Tegan and Sara.
Goo was previously saved from elimination thanks to the “Ding Dong, Keep It On” Bell. During Wednesday’s show, he took the stage to perform “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls. Unfortunately, he didn’t earn enough votes to send him straight into the Semifinals.
During his Smackdown against Strawberry Shortcake for the final spot, Goo performed “Hold On, I’m Comin'” by Sam & Dave. Although it was definitely a great performance, he couldn’t beat Strawberry Shortcake. So he had to be unmasked and eliminated from the competition.
Final guesses from the panel about Goo’s identity included Shaquille O’Neal, John Cena, and Aaron Donald. However, only Jenny McCarthy was correct in guessing that it was Rams defensive end Kobie Turner, saying she heard him sing the national anthem at a Lakers game and was wowed by his voice.
Next week, the final three contestants (Wasp, Buffalos, and Strawberry Shortcake) will perform once again for their chance to go to the Season 12 finale. Who are you rooting for? Let us know in the comments below.
