Kelly Clarkson Is Not Backing Down As Divorce From Brandon Blackstock Gets Ugly

Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock back in June which came as a shocking surprise to the public. Now it seems like the drama is heating up but Kelly has made it clear to those close to her that she is not backing down without a fight.
Kelly Clarkson And Brandon Blackstock’s Divorce Has Created Some Friction
After Kelly and Brandon’s split was made public, Brandon’s father Narvel Blackstock who owns Starstruck Management Group filed a claim against her. He alleges that Kelly owes them $1.4 million in unpaid commissions. These commissions are reportedly from Kelly’s earning as host of The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Voice. Kelly has maintained a close relationship with the Blackstock’s as they have managed her for 13 years.
She has gone on to be more successful as the years go by and continues to rack in more money, of which she was paying Starstruck Management Group a 15% commission. According to Yahoo News, “The suit also claims that Clarkson will owe at least $5.4 million by the end of the year.” However, there is no written agreement because this agreement was verbally done by Kelly’s lawyer in 2007 during a phone call. A source close to Kelly told OK Magazine that this legal battle has caused a lot of friction between Kelly and Brandon but she is not going to let it ruin her life.

“Kelly’s a tough woman,” the source said. “and is rumored to be telling pals she won’t let Brandon destroy her.” The source continued on to explain the effects of the lawsuit and the ongoing legal battle. “The lawsuit really took the wind out of Kelly. She was with them for 13 years and made the company so much money. Now it feels like they’re going after her life savings.”
“If Brandon thinks he’s got the upper hand with this lawsuit and that he can get more money out of her in the divorce, he can think again” they continued. “Kelly’s prepared to play hardball in court and drag out his dirty laundry on her daytime talk show too. There will be no gagging her.”
Therapy Has Helped Kelly And Her Children Cope With The Divorce
Kelly is reportedly upset with Brandon and the divorce has put a bit of a strain on her life. One thing that has helped her cope is therapy. Her two children that she shares with Bradon also go to therapy. “It’s tough on anybody to go through something like this, but Kelly’s heart breaks for her kids, who’ve had their home life turned upside down,” the source continued. “She wasn’t happy with Brandon.”
“And though she did try, staying together just for the kids’ sake wasn’t an option for her. She had to move on” the source noted. Kelly has kept busy filming the second season of The Kelly Clarkson Show along with season 19 of The Voice.

“She was miserable in the marriage,” the source added “and has come to realize that leaving was necessary.”
