Directioners are not okay. Zayn Malik has once again teased the revival of One Direction with an acapella version of “Night Changes.” Could this mean a One Direction reunion is on the rise??
Zayn Malik Revisits His One Direction Days With “Night Changes” Acapella
On August 15, former One Direction member Zayn Malik shared yet another acapella video singing songs from The X Factor UK created boy band. Many didn’t expect Malik to ever revisit the One Direction era ever again, since he was the first member to depart from the group.
Malik’s first One Direction acapella cover was posted in early June, following the Liam Payne drama. At the time, Payne spoke to Logan Paul about the behind the scenes of the group, including his beef with Malik. After Payne’s several bold claims, Malik published a video of him singing “You and I” on Instagram.
To this day, fans are still shocked to see Malik sharing tunes from the boy band. From the look of Harry Styles’s recent interview, it seems like a reunion isn’t totally out of the picture.
The X Factor UK Releases His Extended Cut Audition
The X Factor UK has recently paid tribute to One Direction by sharing each member’s extended cut audition on YouTube. Malik’s extended cut was uploaded to the show’s YouTube channel on August 3, so let’s look back at his journey.
At only 17 years old, Malik took The X Factor UK stage to pursue his dreams. Within the audition, he sang a rendition of “Let Me Love You” by Mario. The audience was heard cheering for the singer throughout several lines of the audition, until Cowell stopped him part way. The judges then explained that they thought that the singer could grow with the show. Since he didn’t have much experience before the show, the judges decided to send him through to grow into his voice.
Even though a One Direction reunion isn’t guaranteed, fans believe that it could be in the works. It can’t be a coincidence that Styles confirmed a reunion can happen then Malik began recording these covers. While it may be unlikely, fans hope to see the group come together in 2023 for a reunion, even if it’s a “one night only’ type of event.
