Harry Styles Mentions Possible One Direction Reunion Following Liam Payne Drama
One Direction fans everywhere are quaking from a comment Harry Styles made. When asked about a future One Direction reunion, the superstar confirmed that he would be on board.
Longtime fans of Harry Styles remember that he got his start at the age of 16 on The X Factor UK. After auditioning for the show as a solo artist, Simon Cowell paired him with Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne. One Direction became an on show hit, finishing in third place.
After their iconic X Factor UK journey, the group went on to find almost immediate success with their debut single, “What Makes You Beautiful.” One Direction quickly became one of the biggest boy bands of the 2010’s. Their albums Up All Night, Take Me Home, Midnight Memories, Made in the A.M., and Four all hold platinum RIAA certifications in present day. Even though the band found huge success, they went on an indefinite hiatus in 2015 when Malik left the group.
As I’m sure you already know, each members from the group have found some type of solo success since the groups hiatus. Styles just released his third studio album, Harry’s House, and is set to perform throughout Europe before returning to the United States for a 15 night residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Harry Styles Confirms That He Would Be On Board For a One Direction Reunion
After nearly 11 years, One Direction members have recently spoke about the group in the press. While each member’s voice has been different in relation to the group, Styles recently confirmed that he would be on board for a band reunion.
“I think the thought of it [a reunion] is a really nice one,” he said. “I’d love for there to be a time where it felt like something we all wanted to do.”
He then explained that the group went through a special time together and there’s still “a lot of love there.” Styles expressed a reunion would be a great moment for the band members, if it was done in the right way.
This isn’t the first time Styles has talked about the possibility of One Direction reuniting. Since 2019, the singer has made it clear that the group could reunite if “we all really want to do it.” While other members like Tomlinson and Payne have previously said they’d agree, the group recently was apart of some online turmoil. Could this reunion be farther away than ever?
Liam Payne Gets Candid on Beef with Zayn Malik, Success Post One Direction
A few weeks ago, Payne spoke about the behind the scenes of One Direction on Logan Paul’s podcast, Impaulsive. The singer quickly made headlines, stating that there were “many reasons why I dislike Zayn.” He explained that the two would get in backstage arguments often, but ultimately said it was due to their different upbringings.
Even though Payne mostly opened up about his relationship with Malik, One Direction fans latched on to his claims about life after the group. Notably, the singer claimed that his debut solo single had the most success out of all of the member. Even though “Strip That Down” has over 886 million streams on Spotify, it didn’t earn the chart success of the of the first solo singles released by Malik or Styles. He later explained that he doesn’t know where to go from there, stating “I still don’t know who I am, I replicate different people on a daily basis.”
As a result of Payne’s remarks, Malik published a video of himself singing One Direction’s hit “You and I” on Instagram. Although this was just a eight second clip, fans were shocked to see the former One Direction member sing one of their songs for the first time since his departure.
While Style’s interview seems encouraging for One Direction fans, it’s possible Payne’s appearance on Paul’s Podcast will set back any plans they have. No matter the year, diehard One Direction fans are hoping to see the band come back together sometime in the near future.
