Shakira Cancels Peru Concert Due to Hospitalization

Shakira was scheduled to perform a show in Lima, Peru, on Sunday night, as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour — which kicked off earlier this month. The singer announced the concert’s cancellation on Instagram stories, with messages in both Spanish and English.

“I regret to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER due to an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,” the singer wrote. “The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in the condition to put on a concert tonight.”

She added that she was “very sad” that she couldn’t perform, sharing that she hoped to be well enough to perform Monday night’s show in the city. Shakira assured fans that her team was working to figure out a new date for the canceled show.

On Monday, she shared another message on Instagram, telling her fans, “Thank you all for your loving messages. You give me so much strength!! I love you with all my heart.”

The Singer Is Currently on a World Tour

Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour kicked off on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The singer has concerts lined up into June of this year, in cities around North and South America. After Peru, Shakira is scheduled to perform in her home country of Colombia.

The tour follows Shakira’s recent Grammy win for Best Latin Pop Album, for her 2024 project Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (which translates to Women No Longer Cry). This was her 12th studio album, the first in seven years following 2017’s El Dorado.

The album, which was inspired by Shakira’s breakup from her longtime partner Gerard Piqué, features the songs “Te Felicito,” “TQG,” and “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.”
