Snoop Dogg Just Got Nominated For Songwriters Hall of Fame

Snoop Dogg is in line for another major achievement. He was recently nominated for the 2023 Songwriters Hall Of Fame class. The iconic rapper got nominated amid Universal Pictures developing a biopic about him.
Snoop Dogg, Sade, Patti Smith Among Nominated Artists
The Songwriters Hall of Fame recognized its newest nominees, winners will be inducted at the Annual Induction and Awards Gala. Among the many high-profile celebrities nominated, Snoop Dogg is one of the frontrunners to win.
According to the official description, Snoop Dogg was nominated for his prominent backing vocals on Dr. Dre’s album, The Chronic. The nomination also includes his 1993 solo album Doggystyle as the first album to ever debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Doggystyle is also a certified quadruple platinum album featuring the singles “What’s My Name?” and “Gin and Juice.”
Eligible voters have to submit their ballots on or before December 28, 2022, at 12 p.m. ET. They will have three choices in both the songwriter and performing songwriter categories. If Snoop Dogg were to win, he would be joining hip-hop icons Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, Missy Elliot, and Jermaine Dupri in the Hall of Fame.
A Snoop Dogg Biopic is in Development
Snoop also announced that Universal Pictures is hard at work in developing a big-screen biopic about him. The 51-year-old rapper will be the one responsible for producing the film about his life.
The rapper has licensed his music to be featured in the film which will be directed by Allen Hughes. The film is written by Joe Robert Cole, who co-wrote the two Black Panther films. Universal Pictures is also responsible for handling the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton.
“I waited a long time to put this project together because I wanted to choose the right director, the perfect writer, and the greatest movie company I could partner with that could understand the legacy that I’m trying to portray on screen, and the memory I’m trying to leave behind,” the celebrity said.
Snoop’s three-decade career will be detailed in the biopic, showing his humble beginnings up to when he sold more than 35 million albums worldwide.
