Get ready for more unexpected wig reveals, epic jump splits, and loads of shady comments because RuPaul’s Drag Race has been renewed for Season 14. RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked will also return after each episode to give fans double the drama. Plus, the very controversial celebrity spinoff is back too.
‘RuPaul’s Drag Race‘ is Coming Back For Another Season
It’s good news all around for fans of the franchise. Even though RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 6 is currently airing on Paramount+, Season 14 will go back to airing on cable on VH1. Many fans were a bit disgruntled that they had to pay for a separate streaming service. It’s hard to stay mad at Mama Ru. She’s given us so much content to help get us through this difficult year.
“I am extremely grateful to all the amazing and talented Drag Race queens – past, present and future – that continue to inspire us to find new ways to tell their stories,” RuPaul said in a statement. “Through love, light and laughter, they remind all of us that the most powerful thing you can do is to become the image of your own imagination.”
It feels like Symone walked away with the crown on Season 13 just yesterday. She absolutely dominated the lip-sync’s during the finale where Kandy Muse was named the runner up. The show definitely launches careers for queens as Symone is set to appear in Kacey Musgraves’ new film out on September 10.
The Celebrity Spinoff Has Also Been Renewed
The announcements don’t stop here. Do you remember the first season of RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race? This spinoff will be coming back for a second season as well. The show was absolutely roasted on Twitter when it premiered in the summer of 2020. A majority of the criticism came from people who felt like the show didn’t have actual celebrities on it.
Actor Nico Tortorella was the star of the season. Tortorella fully committed to being dragged up by some of the franchises most popular queens. Other than that, the show lacked the pizzazz that we have seen throughout each series in the franchise. We’ll see if Ru can step up the roster for Season 2.
RuPaul’s Drag Race earned 11 Emmy nominations this year and has announced and renewed spinoffs in Canada, Holland, Australia, Spain, Italy, the Philippines, and the U.K. No premiere dates have been announced just yet for either of the renewed shows in the U.S. Knowing how quickly RuPaul works, it may not come as a surprise that Season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars is already rumored to have begun filming with.
