Did Derek Hough Accidentally Reveal His Baby’s Gender on ‘Dancing With The Stars’?

A crazy moment happened during Tuesday night’s Dancing With The Stars live episode. If you weren’t paying close attention, you may have missed Derek Hough accidentally hinting at the gender of his first child with Hayley Erbert.
Derek Hough May Have Revealed Baby’s Gender
During October 14’s Dedication Night of Dancing With The Stars, Hough may have revealed the sex of his first baby with wife Hayley Erbert. In case you missed the episode, celebrities got to pick a person special to them to dedicate their dance to.
Gymnast Jordan Chiles decided to dedicate her dance to father, Timothy Chiles. She then performed a Viennese Waltz with partner Ezra Sosa to “Daughters” by John Mayer.
Following their emotional dance, the DWTS judge was got choked up, admitting that he imagined a similar experience one day.
“Watching you two dance really made me excited to have my own moment with my—” Hough said, before preventing himself from saying the word “daughter.” Instead, he continued, “with my own child.”
Continuing his notes about the dance, he noted that it was “so beautiful.” He then noted that the dance included a “tenderness” with “care to it.”
Hough Recently Shared They’re Keeping The Child’s Sex a Secret
In September, while talking on Live With Kelly and Mark, Hough explained that he and his wife have chosen to keep their sex of their children private. He admitted that they decided to keep it private because “there’s not a lot of surprises in life, right?”
Although the Hough family is keeping their child’s sex under wraps, they’ve still been sharing details about Hayley’s pregnancy on social media. They announced the pregnancy via Instagram on July 26, 2025 and have been sharing details and jokes about the pregnancy.
Related to the baby’s gender, the couple actually posted a cheeky video where they used old tales to predict their baby’s gender. The cute video more or less predicted that the couple would be having a boy.
On September 18, fans noticed Hough sharing “She might’ve eaten the princess, but she’s definitely becoming a queen” in the caption of his video, hinting that the baby may be a girl.
