The renowned singer and songwriter, Mariah Carey has added another milestone to her illustrious career as she garners her first-ever Tony Award nomination. Carey made her Broadway debut as one of the producers of the musical adaptation of Some Like It Hot, and the show is now in the running for Best Musical at the 76th annual Tony Awards.
Some Like It Hot Received More Than a Dozen Nominations
The 76th annual Tony Awards, hosted by Ariana DeBose, will be presented live at the United Palace Theatre. As the anticipation builds, fans and industry professionals eagerly await the outcome of the Tony Awards and the possibility of Mariah Carey’s first Tony Award for Some Like It Hot.
If Some Like It Hot takes home the prestigious award, Carey will celebrate her first Tony Award, following in the footsteps of Jennifer Hudson, who secured her first Tony Award last year when A Strange Loop won Best Play.
Carey’s deep affection for the original 1959 film, which starred Marilyn Monroe, drew her to join the production team of Some Like It Hot before its official opening last fall. Producer Neil Meron introduced Carey to the new adaptation of the beloved film, and she couldn’t resist being a part of it.
Viewers can catch the ceremony on Sunday, June 11, during a four-hour television event. The broadcast will begin at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Paramount+ before switching to CBS at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
She Recently Celebrated Her Twins’ Birthday
In addition to her exciting Tony Award nomination, Carey had another reason to celebrate recently. The pop superstar took to social media to commemorate her twins, Moroccan and Monroe, on their 12th birthday.
Carey shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram and Twitter, expressing her love and gratitude for her children. She posted several photos, including a candid shot of the trio in the backseat of a car, capturing their joyful smiles and playful gestures.
Moroccan and Monroe are the children Carey shares with her ex-husband, Nick Cannon. Cannon recently opened up about parenting older kids and the unique experiences they have growing up with such influential parents. As the twins embark on their 12th year, fans of Carey and her family join in the celebration, sending well wishes to Moroccan and Monroe on their special day.
