‘The Voice’ Battles Kick Off with Two Saves and a Steal from the Coaches

Kelsea Ballerini and Adam Levine on 'The Voice' 2025 Blind Auditions 3

The Voice Season 27 returned on Monday night for the first round of Battles, as the coaches paired their artists up for duets. The episode featured some fierce competition, along with two saves and a steal from the coaches to keep losing artists on the show.

The Voice Battles Kick off with Two Coach Saves

In the Battle round, the coaches pair up artists from their team to perform a song together, and then they choose one of those artists to remain on their team for the Knockouts. Coaches also have the option to save the losing artist on their team, or steal a losing artist from another team.

Monday’s episode opened with a Battle from Adam Levine’s artists Britton Moore and Darius J. Their incredible performance of “Creep” by Radiohead was shared as an early release last week. Levine ended up choosing Britton as the Battle winner, but he also hit his button to save Darius.

This was complicated by two other coaches (Michael Bublé and Kelsea Ballerini) trying to steal Darius for their own teams. Ultimately, however, Darius chose to stay on Levine’s team. And he wasn’t the only saved artist from Monday’s show.

On Team Legend, Olivia Kuper Harris and Nell Simmons were paired up to soulfully sing “Feel Like Makin’ Love” by Roberta Flack. Legend chose Olivia as the Battle winner, but he also hit his button to save Nell. Levine tried to steal her, but Nell chose to stay with her original coach.

John Legend Steals Kelsea Ballerini’s Artist

During Monday’s show, Kelsea Ballerini paired up her artists Angie Rey and Tatum Scott to perform “Girl” by Maren Morris. Both singers belted out the song, but Ballerini chose Angie as the Battle winner, sending her to the Knockouts.

However, it wasn’t the end of the road for Tatum, as John Legend hit his button to steal her for his team. He had no competition from the other coaches, so Tatum will be competing in the Season 27 Knockouts on Team Legend.

Unfortunately, not every losing artist in this week’s Battles could be saved or stolen. We had to say goodbye to Team Legend’s Pablo Herrera (who lost to Kolby Cordell), Team Bublé’s Braxton Garza (who lost to Jadyn Cree), and Team Adam’s Fran Posla (who lost to Ethan Eckenroad). Each coach only has one save and one steal for this round of the competition, so they have to use them wisely.

The Voice will return next Monday night on NBC for even more Battles. This season’s Battle advisors (Coco Jones on Team Legend, Cynthia Erivo on Team Bublé, Little Big Town on Team Kelsea, and Kate Hudson on Team Adam) will also be back to help the coaches prepare their artists for the performances.
