John Legend Blocks Ariana Grande Over Broadway Singer During Blind Auditions
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Joshua Vacanti took to the stage for his blind audition and sang “Into The Unknown” from Frozen 2. As soon as this artist came on to the stage, Ariana Grande was dying to turn her chair. To her surprise, she couldn’t. John Legend used his block.
Grande’s jaw dropped the moment she realized that she was blocked. She seemed pretty personally offended by this attack by Legend. On stage, the Lockport, NY native seemed excited, but a bit confused because I’m sure he expected Grande to turn for him.
In Joshua’s biography video, he expressed exactly why he was the contestant Grande would’ve wanted to get her hands on. Legend was quick to move on this discovery, he blocked Grande very early on in Joshua’s performance. He knew almost right away that this contestant was worth his block.
Grande Feels Personally Attacked by the Block
The other coaches had great things to say about Joshua, but were more amused by the fact that Grande had been blocked for the first time ever. Joshua seriously was the best person for Grande to be blocked from. He already had an amazing voice, a background in theater, and would’ve clicked so well with the pop artist. Considering Grande originally began on Broadway, Joshua would’ve been the perfect member of Team Ariana.
“This is not fair,” Grande said. “See this, ooh, I’m so mad right now. No but we would’ve had so much fun.”
Legend replied to Grande’s frustration by confirming that he chose to block the right person. During the entire second episode of The Voice, Grande and Legend have been turning for the same people. It was only a matter of time until Legend showed the new-comer who is really boss. I think Joshua will thrive as a part of Team Legend and I cannot wait to see what he learns to make his voice even better.
