The 2024 Emmy nominees were announced earlier this week, and the list includes a few of our favorite talent shows — including RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Voice, and Dancing with the Stars. AGT judge Sofia Vergara also earned a nomination.

Emmy Nominees Include Several Talent Shows

RuPaul’s Drag Race earned several nominations this year, including Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program. The show was also nominated for its casting, production design, choreography, directing, editing, and sound mixing.

Additionally, the spin-off show RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked earned two nominations of its own — for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program.

Drag Race is up against The Voice in the Outstanding Reality Competition Program category. The Voice is also nominated for its editing, lighting, makeup, and sound mixing. Meanwhile, Dancing with the Stars is nominated for its choreography, hairstyling, lighting, makeup, and technical direction.

America’s Got Talent earned two nominations, for lighting and technical direction. American Idol received one nomination for lighting. So You Think You Can Dance was nominated for hairstyling.

Sofia Vergara Is Nominated for Griselda

Aside from the nominations for various talent shows, America’s Got Talent judge Sofia Vergara also earned a nod at this year’s Emmys. The actress was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her role in the Netflix series Griselda.

Vergara’s nomination makes history, as she’s the first Latina actress to ever be nominated in the category. However, this is far from her first Emmy nomination. Vergara was previously nominated four times for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Gloria on Modern Family.

Despite all of those nominations, Vergara has never won an Emmy. Could this be her year? We’ll have to wait and see what happens when the 76th Emmys air on Sunday, September 15, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
