Katy Perry’s latest single “Woman’s World” (and especially the accompanying music video) has gotten a lot of people talking since its release earlier this month. Now fans are theorizing that the track might have been a scrapped song from the Barbie movie soundtrack.
Fans Think Katy Perry’s ‘Woman’s World’ Was Meant for Barbie
Earlier this week, TikTok user @religious12 posted a video sharing that they had seen someone suggest that “Woman’s World” sounds like “a scrapped song from the Barbie intro.” So they re-edited the opening of the 2023 blockbuster movie to feature the track.
Perry’s song can be heard in the background as we see Barbie (played by Margot Robbie) start her day in Barbie Land, while Helen Mirren narrates. Many fans in the comments agreed that the song seemed to fit with the movie’s style.
“It sounds like the Barbie movie. Like there was a such a specific sound and it fits it so well,” wrote one user, while another wrote, “You can’t convince me this wasn’t the original purpose.”
The song’s title definitely fits with the fact that in the movie, Barbie Land is literally a “woman’s world” — which becomes a pretty big plot point later in the film. In the final cut, “Pink” by Lizzo opens the movie.

Perry Thanks Fans for Their Support
On Thursday, Perry took to social media to mark one week since “Woman’s World” was released. Despite the backlash the song has received, Perry made sure to shout out her “incredible fans,” adding “I’ll love you for life.”
The words seem to be a reference to another song on her upcoming album 143, titled “Lifetimes.” Perry teased the song in an Instagram post on Friday, which features a clip from what appears to be a listening party the singer hosted. She and her fans can be seen dancing along to the upbeat track.
Fans in the comments expressed their belief that this should have been the lead single for Perry’s new album. Hopefully they won’t have to wait long to hear the whole thing.
