Dancing with the Stars took home the Critics Choice Real TV Award for Best Live Show this week. An achievement in which the celebration quickly turned into a roast-fest of the show’s current host, Tyra Banks. Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews were shockingly ousted from the show in Season 29 after earning the love from fans of the franchise for years.

Banks stepped in and so did the fans who feel like she is not living up to the legacy Bergeron built on the show. Dancing with the Stars has always had a huge following since its original air date in 2005. All of the new changes the show has undergone have taken away some of the reasons why we fell in love with it in the first place.

Fans Rip Into Tyra Banks as the Host of ‘Dancing With The Stars’

One fan on Twitter said, “congrats to the show but not the present hostess.. sorry you’re just not suited for this.” Others ragged on Banks and called for the show to bring back Bergeron. The comments on the show’s Instagram page echoed these opinions, saying that the show “WAS the best until Tyra came along.”

Banks did have a few big slip-ups on live television when it came to delivering the results or introducing performers. The beauty of live television is that anything can happen. She also had a few wardrobe malfunctions during the show when she tried to pull off quick changes. It was all just very over the top and different from the classic Dancing with the Stars episodes we are all used to.

“Get rid of Tyra. Boring with her. Not watching anymore because of her,” another fan put it bluntly in an Instagram comment.

Is She Cut Out to Host the Show?

Fans of America’s Next Top Model probably remember Banks’ very dramatic delivery come results time. She’s added to the drama by making awkward comments about routines on DWTS. As a host, Banks has always remained true to herself and her vibrant personality. Unfortunately, that has not gone over well with longtime Dancing with the Stars viewers who miss Bergeron’s quirky moments and professionalism.

Banks is all about wardrobe changes, dramatic pauses, and making sure she is front and center. Bergeron just came off as more authentic and that he had an actual love for the show. The most important part about hosting a show is also being a fan of the show. Even while hosting America’s Got Talent, it was hard for Banks to find her footing and make viewers love the show even more than they already did.

Banks will be returning as host and executive producer for Season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. Still, it doesn’t look like the campaign to bring Bergeron back will be ending any time soon. Fans are just hoping the show will be less chaotic and more about the actual performances this season.
