Acrobatic act Duo Stardust competed on BGT last year, but they ended up being eliminated after judge Simon Cowell expressed disappointment in their Semifinals performance. They set out to redeem themselves on AGT Season 20.
The couple’s act combined an aerial routine with roller skating, as the pair showed off some dangerous moves that had the judges and audience gasping. The climax of their nail-biting performance even featured pyrotechnics.
Cowell gave the pair a standing ovation, joking that he was responsible for their improved performance. Vergara speculated that he must have been “in a bad mood” when he criticized them before. She liked the audition so much that she chose to press the Golden Buzzer, sending Duo Stardust straight into the live shows.
Despite Vergara doing the honors, Cowell continued to jokingly make the moment about him, saying of the act, “They’re mine.” As Vergara said, “How can Simon take credit for that?” She then sarcastically congratulated him, saying he was “taking over already.”

Did Tom Sandoval Make It Through?
If you watched the recent early release audition clip featuring Vanderpump Rules star Tom Sandoval and his band the Most Extras, you might be wondering what the judges thought of the performance. To refresh your memory, the group performed a cover of “Take On Me” by A-ha.
The audition was actually a huge success, as the AGT panel gave the performance a standing ovation. Mel B said the group made her smile, praising them for not being “embarrassed to say that you are a cover band.” She even hinted that she might need a cover band for her upcoming wedding.
Vergara chimed in to say that the performance “brought us joy,” telling Tom that he looked “amazing up there.” Meanwhile, Cowell said that Tom’s “vocals weren’t great,” but praised him for “being true to who you are.”
Cowell’s reservations about Tom’s vocals didn’t stop him joining his fellow judges in voting “yes” to sending the group through to the next round. Tom told host Terry Crews that the positive response to the performance “means so much to me.”
Who Else Impressed the Judges This Week?
There were several other auditions that impressed the judges during Tuesday’s show, including one from singer Chuck Adams, who performed an emotional cover of “Iris” by Goo Goo Dolls. Vergara predicted that he’ll “go very far.” Chuck earned four “yes” votes to move on.
Other successful musical acts from Tuesday’s episode included singer Bill Taylor, as well as the Benn Family Band. Both delivered heartfelt performances that earned four “yes” votes from the AGT judging panel to move on.
This week’s show also featured an audition from comedian Shuler King, who made everyone laugh with his jokes about being a funeral director. A duo known as the Bodyguards also wowed the panel with their balancing act. Both of these acts earned four “yes” votes to move on.
