Spraggan told The Sun that she and her fiancée Emilia Smith got engaged in January on a plane while traveling to Barbados to spend a vacation with Cowell and Silverman. The pair had been dating for a month after being friends for 10 years.
“We’d been staying at Simon and Lauren’s house for a few days,” Spraggan shared. “One morning, Simon was about to get in the sea and I said: ‘Will you give me away?’ and he replied: ‘Yeah!’ He went off for a swim and when he came back, he said: ‘I’d absolutely love to. It would be an honour.’”
Spraggan and Cowell have become close over the past few years. She shared that she visits him in Los Angeles when she’s in town, and she recently attended a murder mystery party at his house in the Cotswolds.
“I authentically love the guy, I love Lauren, I love their son Eric, I love Lauren’s other son Adam,” Spraggan said. “We’re all great friends. I care about them, they care about me, and Simon really cares about my life, my wellness and my music. Simon and Lauren feel like surrogate parents. They’re always looking out for me.”

Spraggan, Cowell Connected Years After the Show
Spraggan competed on the ninth season of The X Factor UK in 2012, before she left the competition due to illness. Last year, Spraggan revealed in her memoir that she actually left after being raped by a hotel employee during the show’s production.
Spraggan’s rapist was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but her identity as the victim was kept anonymous. The singer said no one from The X Factor checked in on her after the trial. Years later, Spraggan received an apology from Cowell, who said he “should’ve been there for you.”
“His apology healed a part of my being that I didn’t know needed healing,” Spraggan told The Sun, adding, “When we first made contact, I didn’t think for one second that all this would blossom into friendship. We ended up talking about life, then he’d call to say: ‘I just wanted to check in on you.’”
According to her Instagram, Spraggan will be marrying Smith in June of this year. In May, Spraggan has several shows lined up around the UK.
