‘X Factor’ Star Cher Lloyd Announces New Comeback Single

The X Factor star Cher Lloyd surprised fans over the weekend when she announced that she’s releasing a new single called “Head Down” later this month. The 31-year-old singer hasn’t released a new album in over 10 years.
Cher Lloyd Announces Comeback Single ‘Head Down’
On Sunday, Lloyd took to social media to tell fans that her new single “Head Down” will be out January 17, and is now available to pre-save. As Lloyd wrote, “My heart is pounding. It’s been a long time since I’ve had this feeling! I couldn’t bear to tease any longer, it’s finally happening!”
The singer previously teased that she would be releasing new music on Friday, sharing a smiling selfie on Instagram and writing, “Happy new year! I think it’s time for some new music … this is not a drill!!” Her fans expressed their excitement in the comments.
Lloyd competed on The X Factor UK in 2010, finishing the competition in fourth place at age 17. Following her time on the show, she released two studio albums — the most recent being the 2014 release Sorry I’m Late. She went on to release several non-album singles, the latest being the 2021 track “Baddest.”

Where Has Lloyd Been in Recent Years?
After competing on The X Factor, Lloyd signed with Simon Cowell’s label Syco Records. After releasing her debut album Sticks and Stones in 2011, Lloyd parted ways with Syco due to disagreements with Cowell about her career path.
Lloyd made headlines for her alleged diva behavior during her time on The X Factor. The singer admitted in a 2012 interview, “I was young and foolish. Part of me was trying to show I was strong enough to do it, and then I think it all got too much for me. I was angry with the way I was being edited and because of that I turned into this horrible person, with a terrible attitude.”
In 2013, Lloyd married her boyfriend of less than a year, Craig Monk. The couple is still married, and they’ve welcomed two daughters together, in 2018 and 2023. Lloyd currently has 2.8 million followers on Instagram.
