Shangela Hilariously Addresses Alfonso Ribeiro’s Misreference of Her Name on ‘DWTS’

Shangela has a funny way of responding to Alfonso Ribeiro’s misreference of her name on Dancing With The Stars. In a recent TikTok video, the drag diva comically addressed what happened in the latest episode of the show.
Alfonso Ribeiro Calls Shangela “Angela” on Dancing With the Stars‘s Bond Night
Over the course of the competition, supermodel Tyra Banks has been receiving harsh criticisms due to her messy hosting style. At the very least, fans expected co-host Alfonso Ribeiro to neutralize her chaotic energy. However, it seems that Ribeiro is also having his fair share of mistakes in the show.
Ribeiro’s biggest hosting mistake to date took place on Bond Night, when he called Shangela by an incorrect name. The co-host called the drag queen Angela, to which she evidently felt awkward about. Shangela later on made fun of the moment, revealing that she laughed hard watching the scene.
The drag diva had no grudges against the co-host and even described Ribeiro as “the absolute sweetest guy.” She also found it cute that his wife’s name is Angela.
“Trust me tho, this isn’t the worst my name has ever been butchered,” she wrote on Instagram. “Thanks to y’all’s votes I’ll be there next week for Alfonso to try again!”
Apparently, this wasn’t the first time that Ribeiro irked viewers with his hosting. Amid the second week of the competition, he inappropriately called Shangela and Gleb Savchenko’s partnership as an “all-male couple.”
Drag Diva Comically Recalls Live TV Moment
Shangela also took to TikTok to recall the awkward live tv moment. To tell the story in the most iconic way possible, Shangela appeared out of drag to rap to Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl.”
“One thing about me is that just last week / I was on Dancing With The Stars and I was dancing so chick,” he sang. “And then we worked like ‘Yes! Come on, let’s get these scores’ / and when they gave us 8 / I was like ‘Yes, Lord! Yes, Lord!'”
For those who may have missed it, Shangela and Savchenko danced Rumba to Tina Turner’s
“Goldeneye” and impressed the judges with their sultry performance.
“So he turned to Gleb / and said, ‘Gleb, how are you gonna turn down the dial on Angela?’ / and I was like / Who was Angela / Once again / Who is Angela?” he sang.
He ended the video by saying he still loves Ribeiro, nevertheless. The fans applauded Shangela with his hilarious yet kind response to the situation.
