Miley Cyrus Wins Webby Special Achievement Award For Her Show ‘Bright Minded’

The first ever online version of the 24th Webby Awards honorssinger and actress, Miley Cyrus with a 2020 Webby Special Achievement Award. The award recognizes her creation of a positive, digital forum to connect and uplift people amid the COVID-19 outbreak through her Instagram Live show, Bright Minded: Live with Miley.
“As we collectively navigate the impact of COVID-19 on the world and social distancing, the Internet has become the most powerful tool for us to support and uplift one another while sharing strategies to maintain our health,” the Webbys said.
Longtime Pal Demi Lovato Presents Cyrus With the Award
Cyrus’ show is entertaining the world with hopeful conversations with celebrities about how they are maintaining healthy minds, bodies, and spirits during the pandemic.
“What is Miley Cyrus up to? Seriously, though. As we’ve made our way through this unprecedented time, any way to connect and communicate with people to laugh, share stories, sing with friends, any chance for us to come get together joyfully has become vitally important. And my friend Miley has provided an outlet for millions of people to do just that,â€Â said Lovato.
“Miley used her platform to cover topics from the importance of the news sources are reliable, up to the practices of self-love that work for her. It also has given us lots of fun and laughter, as only she can,” added Lovato.
Lovato herself appeared in the second episode of Bright Minded Miley where the duo discussed their experiences struggling with body image and how they have been supportive as friends. Â
Patton Oswalt hosted the event, which featured the characteristic Webby five-word speeches from the winners.Â
“Stay lit in dark times,â€Â said Cyrus during the acceptance speech.
Presenters also included Dr. Anthony Fauci, FKA Twigs, Rhett & Link, Questlove, Hannibal Buress, Arianna Huffington, and Imgoen Heap.Â
Cyrus Created ‘Bright Minded’ to Provide Emotional Support for People All Over the World
“I created the show for emotional support at a very stressful time full of chaos and confusion and fear and panic, and I wanted to bring light into a dark time,†the star said during her third episode.
She called on viewers to donate to organizations that specialize in helping people in their times of financial need. She listed Feeding America, Second Harvest Foodbank of Middle Tennessee, Oasis Center Emergency Housing, and the California Community Foundation.
The show has also become a space for celebrities to open up. Another close friend of Cyrus’, Selena Gomez candidly revealed her bipolar diagnosis on the show.
“I happened to catch it [Bright Minded] one day and loved what she was doing and knew I wanted to be a guest,” Gomez later told the Wall Street Journal. “I liked the rawness of the show. I feel like people are yearning for that type of realism right now. Not something overly produced.â€
“Miley has never been afraid to take risks or put herself out there,†Gomez added. “This new role really seems to suit her, and you can tell she’s really enjoying herself.â€
Cyrus explained that giving that space on her talk show and connecting with her guests on the show is something that she loves.
