Jennifer Hudson recently came under fire for her interview skills after chatting with her former Dreamgirls co-star Eddie Murphy on her eponymous talk show. Fans criticized Hudson for her irrelevant questions, arguing that she wasn’t listening to her guest.
Jennifer Hudson Has Awkward Interview with Eddie Murphy
During Hudson’s recent interview with Murphy, the actor spoke about his son Eric’s marriage to Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin. When Hudson brought up the wedding, she initially couldn’t remember if it was his son or daughter who got married, asking if Murphy would sing at the nuptials.
Murphy clarified that it was his son, adding that Eric and his new wife had already tied the knot two weeks prior. As Murphy explained, “They went off. Everybody was making the big wedding plans, then they decided they wanted to do something quiet, with just the two of them, and they got married.”
Despite Murphy saying the wedding was just for the couple, Hudson once again asked him if he sang. Murphy reiterated that it was just “the two of them and the preacher.” When he said they might have a “big party” to celebrate, Hudson yet again asked if he would sing. Murphy laughed and said he wouldn’t.

Fans Criticize Hudson’s Hosting Skills
The awkward interview moment got fans talking on social media, with one user on X (formerly Twitter) calling Hudson a “terrible host.” They added, “The man said they went off just the two of them went off and got married, she’s gonna then ask him ‘did you sing at the wedding.’ Baby, pay attention omg.”
Another user chimed in to point out that Hudson might need cards in front of her that she can reference with information about the interview. Someone else said that Hudson’s show is “so painful to watch all the time,” while another user wrote that she “doesn’t listen to a single thing people say.”
Earlier this year, The Jennifer Hudson Show was renewed for a fourth season. Just last month, the show celebrated its 500th episode. It also received a Webby Award in April for the Spirit Tunnel segment, in which the show’s crew hypes up the celebrity guests.
