America’s Got Talent has shared an early release audition from this Tuesday’s new episode of Season 20, featuring a group called Phobias. The scary clown act terrified the judges, as they performed disturbing magic tricks.
Scary Clowns Appear in AGT Early Release Audition
At the start of the audition, the AGT judges were nervous as a blue-wigged clown stepped out on stage with several balloons coming out of his mouth. He directed each of the judges to pull one of the balloons out, leaving just one in his mouth. He revealed that there was a fish hook on the end of it.
Two more clowns then appeared in similar outfits. One of the clowns entered a contraption that made it look like her body was cut in half. She then entered another contraption that made it look like she was being crushed. However, she then appeared out of nowhere to hit Howie Mandel’s red buzzer.
“I hate clowns so much, but that was brilliant,” Simon Cowell admitted after the performance. “I’m laughing, because it scared me. That was horrific but great at the same time.”
Sofia Vergara said that she and her fellow judges “couldn’t take our eyes off you.” Mel B called the performance “really entertaining.” Mandel said he was “too afraid to say no.” All four judges agreed to give the group four “yes” votes to move on in the competition.
Last week,AGT Season 20 premiered on NBC, as judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara returned to the panel along with former judge Mel B, who is replacing Heidi Klum this season. Terry Crews was also back to host the show.
The first episode featured two Golden Buzzers, as Simon Cowell did the honors for the group LightWire, and Howie Mandel chose to reward singer Jourdan Blue. These acts are going straight to the live shows later this season.
