Mel B Hits Golden Buzzer as AGT Auditions Continue

Tuesday night’s Golden Buzzer act probably didn’t come as much of a surprise if you saw the early release clip shared by AGT ahead of the Season 20 premiere. In an unusual move, the show revealed that the Messoudi Brothers would receive judge Mel B’s Golden Buzzer.

You might recognize the Messoudi Brothers from Season 14 of the show, when they competed with a third brother who chose to sit this season out. While they were previously a balancing act, this time they brought something a little bit different to the stage.

The two brothers stood across from each other juggling knives back and forth. That was dangerous enough, but they decided to throw a raunchy twist into the mix by taking their clothes off at the same time. Once they stripped down to their underwear, they started putting the clothes back on, all while juggling.

The judges were nervous as they watched the performance, but the brothers managed to get their clothes back on without hurting themselves. They received a standing ovation from the panel, and Mel B was so impressed that she hit the Golden Buzzer to send them straight into the live shows.

Who Else Impressed the Judges This Week?

The Messoudi Brothers weren’t the only returning act to impress the judges during Tuesday’s new episode of AGT. Alex Zinger previously auditioned for Season 19 of the show with a dance act that received four red buzzers from the panel. This time, he managed to turn things around for himself.

Surrounded by female backup dancers, Alex performed to “What Is Love” by Haddaway, showing off some pretty confident moves. The crowd went wild for the routine. Simon Cowell described him as “bad but interesting.” He actually earned four “yes” votes, as the crowd changed Sofia Vergara’s mind.

Other impressive acts from Tuesday’s episode included TT Boys, an acrobatic duo from Ethiopia. They showed off an incredible balancing act that had the audience cheering. They even performed some moves right in front of the judges’ desk. The panel voted unanimously to send them through.

The judges also enjoyed an audition by sibling trio CitiLimitz. Their soulful cover of “All My Life” by K-Ci & JoJo impressed the panel, with Mel B saying she was rooting for them. All four judges voted “yes” to sending them through.

Why Did the Judges Reject Austin Brown?

There was one audition from this week’s episode that didn’t end up on AGT‘s YouTube page after the show. You can watch it at around 26 minutes into the video above. It features singer Austin Brown, who performed “When a Man Loves a Woman.”

Before his performance, Austin told the judges that he spent 10 years with a successful a cappella group before he fell in love with his wife. He shared that he had dreams of making it as a solo artist rather than being part of a group.

Although Austin delivered a strong performance, the judges were divided on whether to send him through. Sofia Vergara and Mel B both voted “yes,” but Howie Mandel earned boos from the audience when he told Austin that he wasn’t impressive enough for Season 20 of the show.

Even though the audience was chanting for Simon Cowell to say “yes” to sending him through, the judge still opted to vote “no.” He told Austin that there wasn’t enough time for him to try another song, but encouraged him to speak to the producers about auditioning on another day.

Do you think we’ll see Austin again later this season? Let us know in the comments below.
