“Hurt Me”

The winning song is “Hurt Me,” written by KOLE. You can see her original performance on PopSugar. Meghan Trainor recorded and released the track already, with over 38,000 views on YouTube. According to the song credits, KOLE is paired with Ryan Tedder to produce the song.

“No Money Alright”/”We Got Us”

Brandin Jay was the preview for this week’s episode. His song “No Money Alright” seemed like a favorite to win after the original performance. He was paired with Ester Dean. They reworked the song, eventually renaming it “We Got Us.” You can listen to the final version on Spotify.

“Alone”

Josh Wood was the last songwriter selected to move on with a mentor/producer. He worked with Shane McAnally. While we have not seen his original performance, we can hear the final song! It is available to listen to on Spotify. An interesting note, Catie Turner from the first season of American Idol on ABC is also credited on the song!

By process of elimination, that means Zachary Kale did not make it to the next round after the first performance. But it’s not all bad news for Zachary! After all, he did co-write “I Hope” for American Idol‘s Gabby Barrett!

To see Meghan Trainor in action with all these songwriters, tune in to Songland, tonight at 10/9c on NBC! Then add “Hurt Me” to all your summer playlists because it is a BOP!
