Birmingham Youth Choir auditions for 'America's Got Talent' 2025

America’s Got Talent is officially back! Now that AGT is back for its 20th season on NBC, there’s been a huge twist to the show itself. Instead of 4 or 5 Golden Buzzers, this season will feature 9. Choir, Birmingham Youth Choir is among the Golden Buzzer recipients of this season.

Who is Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer Birmingham Youth Choir?

This season, Simon Cowell is really showing off his love of talented groups. Earlier this season, he hit the Golden Buzzer for light-up dance group Lightwire, now he hit the Golden Buzzer for Birmingham Youth Choir.

According to Birmingham Youth Choir’s website, their group was created in June 2015, when three friends organized a back-to-school concert ahead of their first year of college. They called up their classmates, friends, family, and church members to create the “The Birmingham Youth Fellowship Choir.”

During the groups first “Youth ‘N Praise” concert, they donated over 200 school supply bags to students in the community. This was originally set to be a one-time event, but the choir continued due to the community interest.

The Choir Has Already Released Music

In current day, the Birmingham Youth Choir is directed by Ahkeem R. Lee. The membership of the choir is comprised of both “youth and young adults across the Birmingham Metropolitan Area.” According to the group’s website, The Birmingham Youth Choir has opened for Former Senator Doug Jones, Bishop Marvin Winans, and Comedian Rickey Smiley. They have also performed at conventions and events such as the Gospel Musical Workshop of America and UAB Men’s Basketball.

The choir officially changed their name from “The Birmingham Youth Fellowship Choir” to “Birmingham Youth Choir” in 2022 when they released their first single. According to their website, Birmingham Youth Choir “is on a mission to provide a creative space for youth and young adults to develop and share their musical talents through proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

As of writing, Birmingham Youth Choir has 5,133 followers on Instagram and 4941 followers on TikTok. Their most-viewed TikTok video brought in over 310 thousand views.
