The Masked Singer Finale RecapFOX

Reading Time: 4 minutes

And just like that, the first season of The Masked Singer is coming to an end. Tonight’s two-hour season finale will reveal the final three celebrities and this season’s winner! Will it be the Monster, the Peacock, or the Bee? Plus, Kenan Thompson joins the judging panel again.

So let’s get right into the action with our Finale recap!

The Peacock

Clues: The Peacock says you could say he “struck like an Egyptian” because he had a starring role next to a Pharaoh. And another alongside pyramid! He says a beehive symbolizes where he’s from.

Performance: The Peacock sang “Shake A Tail Feather” by Ray Charles for his Finale performance. This was another chance for him to highlight his showmanship and killer vocals. He always kicks off the show with a bang and this was no exception! The Peacock has been a frontrunner since Week 1. This proved exactly why!

Judges’ Guesses: Donny Osmond, Neil Patrick Harris, Weird Al Yankovich

The Bee

Clues: The Bee said “you may ask, did I train for this show?” She reveals that she won a singing competition before any of the panelists were even born. The Bee also talked about having the #1 show on the Las Vegas Strip at one point!

Performance: To close out her time on the show, the Bee sang “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt. She has been doing classic songs recently and I love it. This was the perfect selection for her. The Bee showed off exactly what she could do and displayed her tender, timeless vocals. When she started singing older music is when she really started soaring on the show.

Judges’ Guesses: Gladys Knight, Anita Baker

The Monster

Clues: The Monster said “we all may dread it, but let’s talk about the bird and the bee.” He’s got the “music, lyrics, and cadence” to take them down, whether it’s in his cave, at the bar, or on a boat!

Performance: Up last was the Monster, singing “This Is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan. This was such a fun performance and he again showed off his impressive vocals! How did he move like that in such a huge costume? The Monster is not new to this and has risen to the top of the pack since being at risk of going home in Week 1.

Judges’ Guesses: Jamie Foxx, Tyrese Gibson, Terrence Howard

First Celebrity Reveal

The first reveal of the night was a shocking one, the Bee! I honestly thought she was going to win it all, but she ended up in third. The judges put their final guesses in before she was revealed. Everyone but Ken guessed Gladys Knight all at once. Ken went against them, guessing Anita Baker.

And when the reveal happened, Ken Jeong was proven wrong! It was none other than Grammy award-winning, legendary vocalist and “Empress of Soul,” Gladys Knight! You can’t deny that amazing voice. Props to Kenan for picking up on her identity right away!

Winner Announced & Second Celebrity Reveal

Drumroll please. The winner of the Golden Mask is…the Monster!

But first, we have the second reveal of the night, the Peacock. The panelists had one last chance to guess who was under the mask. Robin Thicke guessed Weird Al Yankovich and Kenan later agreed. Jenny McCarthy went with Donny Osmond (or Neil Patrick Harris, but she can only pick one). Ken and Nicole were also split between the same two as Jenny but picked NPH.

Then, the Peacock took his mask off and under it was…singer, entertainer, and television star, Donny Osmond! Jenny is 2/2 so far tonight!

Last Celebrity Reveal of the Finale

And the last reveal of the night is the winner, The Monster! The judges put in their final guesses before the unmasking. Robin guessed Jamie Foxx. Jenny said she thought it was Michael Vick. Next, Ken guessed Darius Rucker. Nicole said part of her thinks it’s CeeLo Green and even though she’s not convinced, that was her final guess. Finally, Kenan went with Tyrese Gibson.

When the mask came off, the Monster was revealed to be…T-Pain! None of the panelists guessed correctly. The award-winning singer and producer is most known for his use of autotune in his songs throughout the early 2000’s. But he proved he has some pipes for real on the show!

And that’s it for the first season of The Masked Singer! The show has been renewed for a second season, but there’s been no announcement on when to expect it back quite yet. Stay tuned for more details to come in the future!
