The Masked Singer returned on Wednesday night for a jam-packed Season 13 finale, as Pearl was crowned the winner and unmasked as Grammy-winning country singer Gretchen Wilson. The three other finalists (Boogie Woogie, Coral, and Mad Scientist Monster) were also unmasked during the episode.
Pearl (AKA Gretchen Wilson) Wins The Masked Singer
Last week, Season 13 character Lucky Duck saved all four contestants in the Semifinals, as he was unmasked as panelist Rita Ora’s husband Taika Waititi. That meant there were four contestants in this week’s finale — Pearl, Boogie Woogie, Coral, and Mad Scientist Monster.
During the show, Pearl performed “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” by KT Tunstall. After the first round of the finale, she and Boogie Woogie were the last two contestants standing. They each delivered one final performance for a chance to be named the winner of Season 13.
Pearl chose to sing “I’ll Stand By You” by the Pretenders. It was enough to earn her the Golden Mask trophy and the title of Season 13 winner. Before she was unmasked, the panel shared their final guesses about her identity, including Ann Wilson, Natalie Maines, and Trisha Yearwood.
However, only Robin Thicke was correct in guessing that it was Gretchen Wilson, famous for her Grammy-winning song “Redneck Woman.” Wilson explained that she’s had “a rough couple of years,” as she was in a wheelchair due to an injury.
“There was a moment where I didn’t think I’d ever get back to this place,” Wilson admitted. “And I worked really hard, I prayed really hard, and I got so far. But this opportunity has really proven to me that there’s nothing I can’t do.”

Who Else Was Unmasked in the Finale?
Three other contestants competed in Wednesday night’s Season 13 finale. Boogie Woogie ended up finishing the season in second place, after singing “Freedom! ’90” by George Michael and “Love the Hell Out of You” by Lewis Capaldi.
The panel guessed that Boogie Woogie might be Ryan Tedder, Daniel Powter, Ed Sheeran, or Darren Criss. None of them guessed that it was actually singer/songwriter Andy Grammer. He said the show inspired him to write “bigger, belty ballads.”
Coral and Mad Scientist Monster finished the competition in third and fourth place, respectively, after performing “Moon River” by Audrey Hepburn and “Stay” by Sugarland during the first part of the finale. They were the first two contestants to be unmasked on Wednesday night.
For Coral, only Rita Ora was correct in guessing that it was Zombies star Meg Donnelly under the mask. Meanwhile, Jenny McCarthy was the only panelist to correctly guess that Mad Scientist Monster was Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line.
When it came time to present this season’s Golden Ear trophy, for the panelist with the most correct guesses, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy were tied for the honor. They each received their own separate trophy to celebrate the accomplishment.
