America’s Got Talent alum Jackie Evancho might have just dropped her saddest song yet. The 23-year-old singer has recently dropped another original song “Consequences.”
Jackie Evancho Releases Brand-New Single “Consequences”
Evancho celebrated the release of her newest single on Instagram over the weekend. For this song, the AGT alum decided to tackle the depths of a mental health crisis.
“The outcomes of decisions made between light and dark…#Consequences is out now,” she wrote.
“Consequences” follows Evancho’s other original song, “Behind My Eyes.” The singer hopes that both of these songs will aid in introducing a new version of herself as an artist.
Evancho initially posted about “Consequences” in late October with a snippet of it on Instagram. Ahead of its official release, the singer took her fans to her rehearsals for her Napa Valley performance for Live in the Vineyard. She did her first ever live performance during the same day of its release on audio-streaming sites.
“Playing my music live is the greatest feeling in the world. Thank you, @liveinthevineyard!” she wrote.
Later, the AGT alum explained in a video her switch from classical music to pop. According to the singer, the crossover was something she didn’t force on herself.
“I’ve gone from classical to pop music because it’s just kind of what naturally happened,” she said.
Keeping it short but sweet in her Instagram post’s caption, she stated that it was already “time for a change” even though the classical genre will always have her heart.
“Consequences” Emotionally Captures One’s State of Existential Dread
Upon release, Evancho’s fans immediately took to social media how they feel about the new single. With some fans effortlessly resonating with the song’s lyrics, “Consequences” quickly became a relatable piece.
“An extraordinary voice, very melancholic but warm, as if you were expecting something, but you have so much warmth inside you and you are building around yourself,” a person wrote.
“Jackie, your songwriting has taken you to another level of artistic expression. I’ll always treasure your cc recordings and performances, but I believe you’ve really found your identity with these original songs,” another person wrote.
Indeed, “Consequences” is a beautifully wistful song. It comfortably validates one’s confused feeling about life, prompting oneself to be completely vulnerable with the song’s tone and lines.
“Consequences filling up my mind / Doctors keep on telling me I’m fine / This is just a waste of my time / Life is not a word I can define,” the lyrics read.
While Evancho didn’t exactly become open up about her mental health struggles, her lines were specific enough to evoke feelings. To conclude, “Consequences” is a successful addition to Evancho’s growing discography.
