Is the ‘Masked Singer’ Judge Obsession with Jamie Foxx All to Plug Another Fox Show?
Reading Time: 2 minutes
For the fifth season in a row, Jamie Foxx has been the star of The Masked Singer. Though he has never actually competed on the show, he is certainly the most guessed celebrity by each of the judges. Foxx addressed all of the guesses in early April with a tweet. He also took the opportunity to plug a new season of Beat Shazam.
How Does Jamie Foxx Feel About Constantly Being Guessed on ‘The Masked Singer’?
Foxx served as a guest judge on The Masked Singer in Season 3. He wanted to help prevent any of the judges from guessing him that season. This came after the judges were absolutely certain he was under The Fox mask in Season 2. They were proven wrong when The Fox was crowned the winner and revealed to be Wayne Brady, another Fox talent show host
“Everyone is saying I’m on #themaskedsinger tonight…that would be wild,” Foxx tweeted on April 7.
His tweet came after The Masked Singer debut of The Robopine who had an extremely soulful voice and clear singing and acting experience. When it came time to reveal the quill-covered crusader in this week’s “Spicy 6” episode, Nick Cannon read out the judges first impression guesses.
Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, and Jenny McCarthy all wrote down Foxx as their first impression guesses. This moment proved that their obsession with him has still continued well into Season 5. McCarthy stuck with Foxx as her final guess and was shocked to see The Robopine was actually revealed to be actor Tyrese Gibson.
Foxx Will Be Hosting Season 4 of ‘Beat Shazam’ On Fox
It seems like all of the buzz surrounding Foxx on The Masked Singer is a tactic to plug his own Fox show, Beat Shazam. The show is in its fourth season with Foxx back as the host. He posted a tweet to encourage fans to tune in to the show on June 3. This tweet was posted before the tweet about The Masked Singer guesses.
Beat Shazam tests contestants’ musical knowledge by making them guess song titles to earn some major cash. The timing of this show perfectly lines up with the finale of The Masked Singer. The show should end the same week if not the week before Beat Shazam’s premiere.
Fans of The Masked Singer will probably be searching for a new Fox competition show to watch. To satisfy their talent show cravings, more viewers will be drawn to Beat Shazam.
