Ahead of their upcoming wedding anniversary, Twilight star Taylor Lautner is detailing how hosting a game night sparked romance between him and his wife, Taylor Dome Lautner. The couple also shared the trickiest thing about having the same name.
Taylor Lautner, His Wife First Met At a Game Night
During their latest appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the married couple revealed how they first met. Apparently, the actor’s sister Makena Moore played a big part in introducing them to each other.
“My sister introduced us. They became friends and as soon as they became friends, my sister literally called me and was like, ‘I met your future wife. You need to schedule a game night at your house,'” he said.
Lautner went on to state that his sister asked him to invite her and her friends, including Dome Lautner. According to the actor, his now-wife didn’t actually know that his sister intended the game night to be a setup.
During the night, both Taylors, alongside a bunch of friends competitively played a few games, one being modified charades. To hit it off with Dome, Lautner scouted her to be on his team.
“You start with the team captain, you whisper, ‘movies, Titanic.’ They run back to their teams in the rooms, charade it out. Whoever guesses it on their team runs to the Game Master to get the second word, it’s a relay race to get through, it gets very exciting,” he said. “I was playing that night and I drafted her on my team and that’s where it started.”
The couple tied the knot in 2022 after dating for four years. At present, they are preparing for the celebration of their first anniversary. For the special occasion, they are planning to hold a fundraising gala for their non-profit, The Lemons Foundation.
They Reveal Hardest Thing About Having the Same Name
It’s surely been a ride for the couple, since they are now both named Taylor Lautner. Elsewhere in the interview, the Twilight actor revealed that there are certain moment where they struggle with sharing their first and last name.
“Does it ever get confusing with emails or questions?” Clarkson said.
“The mail,” Dome Lautner nurse said.
“This holiday season is going to be tough,” her husband said. “There’s going to be some gifts ruined for sure.”
Furthermore, the couple also revealed that people also get them mixed up when they have to travel and head through security.
“They’re like, ‘We need Taylor’ and we’re like, ‘Which one?'” she said.
“That’s us both,” the actor added. “They’re like, ‘No, Taylor Lautner,’ and it’s like, ‘Also, both of us.'”
In the interview, the Lautners also revealed that they rented out a movie theater for their friends to watch Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour film. For those who may not know, Lautner’s wife is an avid fan of Swift who happened to be his ex.
