Katy Perry Shares AI-Generated Met Gala Looks, Posts Video in the Studio

American Idol judge Katy Perry did not attend the Met Gala on Monday night, despite what you might have seen on social media. The singer herself posted a couple of AI-generated images that made it look like she was at the event. In reality, she was busy in the studio.

Even though Perry wasn’t there in person at this year’s Met Gala, a couple of images were circulated on social media showing the singer wearing a couple of avant-garde fashion looks. It turns out those images were AI-generated.
Perry herself acknowledged the images, posting them on Instagram. In one image, the singer can be seen wearing an extravagant ballgown adorned with flowers and butterflies. In another image, she dons a metal bodice and a skirt made of vines and flowers, accessorized with wet-looking hair.
As Perry wrote in the post’s caption, “couldn’t make it to the MET, had to work.” A lot of people were fooled by the AI images, including Perry’s own mother. She shared a text from her mom, in which she wrote that Perry wore a “gorgeous gown.”
Perry replied, “lol mom the AI got you too, BEWARE!” On X (formerly Twitter), one of the images even received over 300,000 likes. It’s accompanied by a disclaimer that the image is fake.

Perry Was Working in the Studio
As Perry explained in her Instagram post, she was busy working during Monday’s Met Gala. It turns out she was working in the studio to record new music. The singer posted a video from her time in the studio as part of her post.
She can be seen wearing an all-black outfit, leaning with one hand against the wall as she sings into the microphone and dances along. The clip doesn’t have any sound, so fans won’t get to hear what Perry has up her sleeve for an upcoming album.
Perry has yet to officially announce any new music, but she’s been teasing that things are in the works. The singer will be leaving American Idol after this season, so hopefully we won’t have to wait long to get more news about her future projects.
