America’s Got Talent judge Heidi Klum recently shared some funny throwback photos on Instagram. As it turns out, even supermodels like Klum have embarrassing pictures from when they were teenagers. In this case, Klum was dreaming of her future career.

Heidi Klum Posts Throwback Photos from Age 17

The photos Klum shared show her teenage self in a popped white collar and matching hat, pouting into the camera with her lips lined in purple, and then gazing off to the side to show her profile. She also has some pretty dramatic winged eyeliner going on.

“17 years old, dreaming about being a Model,” Klum captioned the pair of photos on Instagram, along with a tongue-out emoji. “I went a little heavy on the lipliner.”

In 1992, when Klum was 18 years old, she entered a German modeling contest and won against 25,000 contestants. She later accepted a modeling contract worth $300,000 with Metropolitan Models New York, and the rest is history. She became a Victoria’s Secret Angel and graced the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Earlier this year, Klum posted another throwback to the night before her first Victoria’s Secret fashion show, when she practiced her runway walk in her New York apartment.

Klum’s 17-Year-Old Daughter Leni Is Already a Model

At 17 years old, Klum was still dreaming of becoming a model. Her own daughter Leni is currently 17 years old, and she’s already in the business. Earlier this year, she was featured on the cover of German Glamour, 20 years after her mom was on the magazine.

Leni has wanted to be a model for several years now, and she’s even had offers in the past, but Heidi was adamant that her daughter not start her career until she was at least 16 years old. Now Leni is following in her mother’s footsteps and taking the modeling world by storm.

“Obviously, as a mother, [I want my] child to do what she wants to do,” Klum said. “The industry is great and I love it and I’ve been in it for over 20 years but it’s also, it’s a lot of traveling, it’s different. You have to be a strong person, especially as a woman you have to be very strong.”
