The world’s biggest and most exciting stage is touching down in America next year in what will be an epic showdown. The American Song Contest, a new version of The Eurovision Song Contest is set to premiere around the holidays in 2021 and this epic teaser trailer is already making it one of the most highly anticipated events to come in the future.

The ‘American Song Contest’ Is A Eurovision Spinoff

‘Eurovision’ is an annual international song competition where participating countries submit original songs to be performed on the show. It is the longest-running international television music competition. Not to mention it is a huge hit worldwide with over 200 million viewers each year. The American Song Contest will have similar rules to the European version. According to Yahoo! Entertainment, “Professional musical artists — solo singers, duos or groups up to six members — from each of the 50 states and across every musical genre will perform all original songs on the live televised event.” The artists will be put in head to head battles with the winners moving on to the next round until they make it to the grand finale.

“When America is more fractionalized than ever and we are dealing with so many issues that divide us, the one [thing] that truly unites us is our culture. …  It can unite it by celebrating its diversity, its distinctions, and in pulling everyone around its love of music and its love of the song” said executive producer Ben Silverman. The American Song Contest is definitely something to look forward to next year, so mark your calendars.

It became one of the best selling singles of all time and that was only just the start for them. Their successful music careers served as the inspiration and music behind the hit play and film adaptions of “Mamma Mia!” Canadian singer Celine Dion also competed at ‘Eurovision’ in 1988. She won with the song “Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi.” It is considered one of the best winning performances of all time. She later learned to speak English and established herself as one of the biggest and celebrated artists of all time in North America and all over the world.
