In a recent interview, Dancing with the Stars pro dancer Gleb Savchenko suggested that the future of the show might look very different. Savchenko hinted that the show could get a “facelift,” possibly with a new cast of professional dancers.

Will Dancing with the Stars Get a ‘Facelift’ Soon?

Dancing with the Stars has been renewed for Season 33, expected to premiere this fall on ABC. However, the show has yet to announce a celebrity cast or confirm which pro dancers will be returning for the new season. According to Savchenko, they won’t find out until the “last week of August.”

“We just sit and wait for the calls to be picked up, and hopefully, I’m back as a pro,” Savchenko told the U.S. Sun in an interview last month. “I love the show, I love to dance. I still have a few more seasons in me for sure.”

Although he wants to come back to the ballroom, Savchenko had something interesting to say about the possibility that the show could overhaul its cast of pro dancers at some point in the future.

“A friend of mine just said it to me yesterday, ‘The show will definitely, at some point, get a facelift,'” Savchenko said. “And facelift, meaning it has to be updated with maybe dancers or whatever.”

Cheryl Burke, Kristyn Burtt Weigh In

Heavy reports that former pro dancer Cheryl Burke recently weight in on Savchenko’s comments while talking to insider Kristyn Burtt. During an episode of Burke’s podcast Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans, they discussed the likelihood of the show hiring a new cast of dancers.

“I don’t think that they’re ever going to do like a clean sweep and get rid of everyone. I feel like they’re just going to keep on like adding people on each season,” Burtt said. “You can’t get rid of the favorites.”

Burke chimed in to say that she would “be nervous” if the show weren’t currently helmed by producer Conrad Green. She believes he will protect the existing pros from being ousted. Green was the original showrunner until Season 18. He later returned in Season 31.

Although the roster of pro dancers certainly hasn’t stayed exactly the same since the show’s inception, Dancing with the Stars has never completely replaced the cast for a new season. We’ll have to wait and see who returns for Season 33.
