Band Of Veterans Is Exactly What The ‘AGT’ Judges Were Waiting For
In Season 8 of AGT, a rock band called the American Hitmen wowed the judges with their audition. Several of the band members are veterans who served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
One of the judges said their performance was something he had been waiting for on the show. Check out their audition below, and read on to find out what the judges thought.
American Hitmen Audition For ‘AGT’
Two members of the band, Tim and Dan Cord, are brothers. They served together in the Marine Corps in Iraq during Operation Phantom Fury in 2004. They played music together during their time in the Marines.
After returning from their second deployment, the brothers decided to pursue music with their fellow marine Dan Jarmon. They later added drummer Phil Snyder to the band.
“We want to represent people in the military that never came back home, or came back injured,” Dan said, adding, “We want to try and be a voice for them, the people that don’t know how to have a voice.”
Before their audition, judge Howard Stern said he was “still looking for a great rock band,” telling them, “It looks like you might deliver.” The band proceeded to perform “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
What Did The Judges Think Of The Audition?
The audience cheered along to the American Hitmen’s performance, and the judges gave the band a standing ovation. Backstage, host Nick Cannon commented, “Those guys are good!”
“I have been waiting through two seasons to find a band that could go all the way to the top,” Howard Stern said. “Not only are you a great singer, sir, but your guys here are a great musical band.”
Heidi Klum praised lead singer Tim’s confidence. He replied by saying, “I was confident until you started talking and looking directly at me, and now I’m not.” He told Heidi she was “beautiful in person,” and she said she wants to be in the front row of their shows.
The American Hitmen received four “yes” votes to move on, and they made it to the Quarterfinals of AGT Season 8. In the years since, Tim left the band, and Jake Isaacson became the new lead singer. You can follow them on Instagram.
