Britain’s Got Talent Series 18 returned over the weekend for another round of auditions. This week’s episode featured an incredible performance by singer Linda Mudzenda, who earned a Golden Buzzer from judge Alesha Dixon.
Alesha Dixon Hits Britain’s Got Talent Golden Buzzer
Linda Mudzenda, who is originally from Zimbabwe, told the judges that she works with children who have learning disabilities. She appeared nervous to perform, prompting judge Amanda Holden to tell her to “take your time, take a deep breath.”
When she was ready, the 21-year-old began performing “You Say” by Lauren Daigle, showing off an incredible voice that stunned the judges and earned cheers from the audience. The entire panel gave Linda a standing ovation, making her emotional.
Guest judge KSI told Linda that she “blessed this whole room with your voice.” Alesha Dixon said that her “heart was racing out of my chest” during the performance. She was so impressed by Linda’s talent that she chose to press the Golden Buzzer to send her straight into the live shows.
Simon Cowell Gets a Despicable Me Makeover
This week’s show also featured an audition from a group called Lil M’s, which included kids dressed up as Minions who caused mischief and danced around the stage. They referred to judge Simon Cowell as their “leader,” giving him a makeover to look like Despicable Me‘s Gru.
Cowell wore a bald cap, a long nose, and a scarf to resemble the iconic animated character. The judge joked that the group was in “big trouble,” asking, “Have you made me look stupid?” When asked where they’re from, the group answered that they’re from Minionland, adding that they’d use the prize money to buy bananas.
The group earned four “yes” votes from the panel to move on in the competition. After the kids left the stage to celebrate, Cowell posed for a picture in his Gru costume to show his son Eric.
Performer from Vietnam Shocks the Judges with Dangerous Act
This week’s show also featured an audition from Bao Cuong, a performer from Vietnam who delivered an unexpected audition that shocked the judges. He started by sticking a giant pair of scissors down his throat and using it to lift a microwave.
After that, Bao grabbed yet another pair of giant scissors and actually opened them up inside his body, freaking out the audience and panel. He followed that up by setting the handle of a sword on fire and sticking the blade down his throat. He then used his breath to create a blow torch effect.
The panel gave Bao a standing ovation for his dangerous performance, with Bruno Tonioli saying he was “exhausted” from watching it. When asked if he’d ever injured himself before, Bao told the judges that he once made a mistake and put a hole in his esophagus. He had to receive 23 stitches.
Cowell called the performance “fantastically disgusting,” saying it was one of his favorite auditions of the day. All four judges voted “yes” to sending Bao through to the next round of the competition.
