Ariana Grande Uses “Thank U, Next” Button to Take Down Other Coaches on ‘The Voice’
Reading Time: 3 minutes
The addition of Ariana Grande as a coach on The Voice Season 21 is changing the course of the show forever. She is the biggest star the show has ever had and fans in the audience at tapings this season won’t let you forget it. They chanted her name, cheered her on, and supported her tactics which included pressing a button that plays “thank u, next.”
Ariana Grande Steals the Spotlight in ‘The Voice’ First Look
In the first look at Season 21 of The Voice, Grande is a total scene-stealer. She literally sparkles when the stage lights hit her. It’s a hard pill to swallow for Blake Shelton who has been on the show since the very first season. Kelly Clarkson even declared that Shelton has “no chance” against Grande. She will always have the entire audience on her side.
“Ariana is the new coach here and I’m extending an olive branch when I’m not in the mix,” Shelton says in the trailer. “I’m trying to help the kid out.”
Shelton and Grande are seen hugging, fist-bumping, and her putting her head on his shoulder. John Legend warned her never to trust Shelton even though he is nice to her sometimes. Grande is very smart and does not trust Shelton at all. It is fun to see a whole new dynamic between the coaches this time around. Grande coming onto the show has really inspired everyone to step up their game.
Grande Has the Ultimate Tactic to Silence the Other Coaches
Grande went on to say that she has been “super moved by how brilliant the performers are” on The Voice. It probably will not come as a shock that most of the artists at the Blind Auditions are all huge fans of hers. We get to see glimpses of Manny Keith, KJ Jennings, Vaughn Mugol, Raquel Trinidad, Paris Winningham, and KCK3 on stage. Vaughn actually got to hug Grande at his audition.
Fans are also treated to another peek at Holly Forbes’ four-chair turn singing “Rocket Man.” Another audition to look forward to is Gymani’s. She left the coaches speechless with her cover of Grande’s “pov.” Grande even said that the song belongs to Gymani now. This is most likely another four-chair turn.
“Ariana is so talented and has a very fine-tuned ear,” Legend says. “It’s going to be hard to convince someone to come to Team Legend but I’m going to make my case.”
As Legend tried to convince the artists to come on his team, Grande hit her “thank u, next” button. This is a strategy that earned props from Shelton. He has been inventing so many new tactics over the years on The Voice too. How many times will Grande have to use this button throughout the season? Since she is sitting next to Shelton, we assume she has had to hit the button to silence him a few times already.
The Voice Season 21 premieres on Sept. 20 on NBC.
