Tyra Banks recently shared her thoughts on Julianne Hough taking over her gig as Dancing with the Stars co-host. Banks had only nice things to say about Hough, calling her the “perfect choice” to emcee the show alongside Alfonso Ribeiro.

Tyra Banks Praises Julianne Hough as DWTS Replacement

Earlier this month, Banks hinted that she wouldn’t be returning to DWTS as a co-host for Season 32, as she wants to focus more on her business. It was later confirmed that former pro dancer Julianne Hough would be replacing her.

“The businesswoman in me sees how Julianne is great on multiple levels. She’s a professional dancer. She is the sister of Derek [Hough], a DWTS multi-champion, who is now a stellar judge,” Banks told Us Weekly. “It’s going to be a family affair in that ballroom which people will love to watch. And she has so much personality and strong opinions backed by expertise. She’s a perfect choice! She’s gonna crush it!”

Hough will co-host the show with former Mirrorball champion Alfonso Ribeiro, who joined Banks as a co-host last season. Meanwhile, Hough’s brother Derek is returning as a coach, alongside Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.

Banks Shares What She’ll Miss About the Show

“I loved walking out every week in over-the-top outfits to such a hyped ballroom. Seeing Derek Hough dance in person was such a treat,” Banks told Us Weekly about what she’ll miss now that she won’t be returning to DWTS.

She also mentioned that she’ll miss judge Carrie Ann Inaba’s “kindness and warm heart,” as well as “reminiscing with Alfonso about the good ole Fresh Prince days.”

Banks joined the show in 2020 for Season 29. The former Victoria’s Secret model had plenty of hosting experience on her show America’s Next Top Model, as well as America’s Got Talent. Nevertheless, she received quite a bit of backlash from fans who criticized her style of hosting.
