Artists Battle to Britney Spears in The Voice Early Release
J.Paul, 37, auditioned for Season 26 of The Voice with a performance of “I Keep Forgettin’ (Every Time You’re Near)” by Michael McDonald, turning three out of four coaches’ chairs. He chose to join Michael Bublé’s team.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Kamila Kiehne auditioned with the song “Black Velvet” by Alannah Myles. She also turned three coaches’ chairs, choosing to join Bublé’s team. The coach paired her up with J.Paul to sing “Toxic” by Britney Spears for their Battle.
Many fans in the comments of the early release clip on YouTube are questioning Bublé’s song choice for these artists, although some praised the two singers for giving it their all despite the unusual arrangement of such an iconic pop track.

What Did the Coaches Think of the Performance?
Snoop Dogg called the Battle “a real presentation,” which got him out of his seat. He marveled at Kamila’s range despite her young age, saying she’s “ahead of the curve.” However, he told J.Paul that he thought the song choice “put handcuffs on you.”
Reba McEntire praised Kamila’s confidence on stage, and she complimented J.Paul’s range. Gwen Stefani told J.Paul, “Your voice is insane.” They were split on who to choose, with McEntire picking Kamila and Stefani picking J.Paul.
Bublé got teary-eyed as he shared his thoughts on the Battle, saying he felt like “a proud dad.” He said Kamila “crushed it,” adding that J.Paul has “all the ability in the world.” We’ll have to wait until Monday night’s new episode to find out which artist he chose to keep on his team.
