American Idol Top 7 Revealed in Judges’ Song Contest
For all of the Top 8 singers, the show’s three judges (Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan) each chose a song for them to potentially sing. Without knowing who chose which song, the singers picked their favorites to sing and then had to guess which judge nominated them.
One standout performance from Monday’s show came from John Foster, who sang “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait, showing off a classic country style. John correctly guessed that it was Underwood who chose the song for him. Underwood called it “absolutely perfect.”
Another memorable performance from Monday’s show came from Jamal Roberts, who performed “I Believe” by American Idol Season 3 winner Fantasia. Jamal got emotional as he performed the powerful song. He thought Underwood chose the track, but it was actually Lionel Richie. The judge called it a “perfect choice.”
John Foster and Jamal Roberts both earned enough votes to make it into the Top 7, along with Breanna Nix, Gabby Samone, Thunderstorm Artis, and Slater Nalley. Mattie Pruitt and Josh King were the bottom two contestants. One of them had to be eliminated.

Who Was Eliminated from the Show?
At the end of Monday night’s show, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie were tied as the judges with the most choices in the Judges’ Song Contest, at three each. Because of this, they got to save one contestant from elimination.
Bryan and Richie chose to save Mattie Pruitt, who sang “Always Been You” by Jessie Murph, chosen by Luke Bryan. That meant that Josh King had to be eliminated from the competition. During Monday’s show, Josh performed “Home” by Michael Bublé, chosen by Lionel Richie.
The Top 7 will return to the stage this Sunday, for the show’s annual Disney Night. Do you agree with the latest results? Let us know in the comments below.
