Acts Earn Extra Golden Buzzers as ‘Canada’s Got Talent’ Chooses Finalists

Canada’s Got Talent returned on Tuesday night for the Eliminations round, as the judges decided on the first six contestants who will compete in the season finale. The last two finalists will be chosen by votes from the show’s viewers. During the show, two acts received their second Golden Buzzer of the season.
Acts Earns Extra Golden Buzzers on Canada’s Got Talent
Singer Jacob Lewis was one of 14 contestants competing in Tuesday’s Eliminations round, after earning a Golden Buzzer from Shania Twain in his audition earlier this season. For this new performance, Jacob sang “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone.
The show’s judges (not including Twain, who was busy on her world tour) gave Jacob a standing ovation. They were so impressed by Jacob’s performance that they decided to surprise him with a second Golden Buzzer, sending him straight to the finale.
Jacob wasn’t the only act to earn a second Golden Buzzer during this week’s show. Dance crew Funkyverse previously received a group Golden Buzzer for their audition, and they returned to deliver another incredible performance in the Eliminations.
The group’s routine showed off their amazing synchronization and had the audience applauding. It even featured some pyrotechnics. Their second Golden Buzzer earned them another $25,000 from CIBC.

Who Else Is Going to the Finale?
During Tuesday’s show, the judges also chose four other acts to send into the season finale. Those acts included singing duo the Martin Boys, comedians Sai Kit Lo and Darren Leo (who earned Katherine Ryan’s Golden Buzzer in his audition), and drone group Illumin.
However, there will be a total of eight acts competing in the finale, which means two of the spots are still open. The judges sent four acts from Tuesday’s show to the public vote, as viewers will get to decide who competes in the finale.
The four acts who are up for a vote include two Golden Buzzer recipients — singers Nicolina (who received the honor from host Lindsay Ell) and Carsim Birmingham (who received it from Kardinal Offishall). The other two acts up for consideration are acrobatic group the Jambo Brothers and strongman Tulga.
Four other acts were eliminated on Tuesday’s show. Unfortunately, that included Howie Mandel’s Golden Buzzer DeeDee Austin, as well as dance group TwoFourSeven. Also eliminated were drag performer Chantaaaal and magician Ben Kahan — the latter of whom received three red buzzers from the panel.
