A documentary is in the works about Ukrainian contestants on Got Talent shows. The project is called Power of Talent and is due to premiere later this month. Simon Cowell is contributing to the documentary.

Documentary About Ukrainian Got Talent Contestants

According to Deadline, the documentary is in the works from local Ukrainian broadcaster STB and Fremantle, with Cowell contributing. This is apparently the first time Got Talent has been the subject of a documentary.

The project will explore the journeys of various Ukrainian acts who have competed on these shows around the world. Light Balance Kids, Natasha Korotkina, and Artem Fesko will all be featured. The documentary will also highlight judge Serhiy Prytula, who has raised more than $120 million for Ukraine.

“Over the years we’ve made Got Talent, we’ve met extraordinary people all over the world, and this documentary will highlight some of the people we’ve met,” Cowell said in a statement about Power of Talent.

The documentary will premiere on Ukrainian Independence Day, August 24. Fremantle will distribute the project globally. Angela Neillis of Fremantle said it will “inspire hope whilst featuring fantastic talent, which is what talent shows are all about.”

Ukraine’s Version of the Show Premiered in 2009

Although some Ukrainian acts such as Light Balance Kids have competed on Got Talent shows around the world, Ukraine has had its own version of the show since 2009. It airs on the STB network.

So far, the show has had 10 seasons in total. The most recent season of the show aired in 2021, with young singer Artem Fesko being named the winner. Artem wowed the judges with his operatic vocal performances.

Ukrainian contestants have also competed in Eurovision. Last year, The Kalush Orchestra was named the winner of the 66th edition of the famous song contest. In light of Russia’s invasion of the country, the UK stepped in to host this year’s contest on Ukraine’s behalf.
