On Tuesday night, America’s Got Talent aired a new special titled “Simon’s Most Memorable Auditions,” in which judge Simon Cowell counted down the top 16 auditions he’ll never forget. The list included performances from both America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent.
Simon Cowell’s Most Memorable Got Talent Auditions
Cowell previously counted down his 15 favorite Golden Buzzers in AGT history. His list of memorable auditions was also only supposed to have 15 acts, but Cowell said he had one he couldn’t let go of, so he changed it to 16.
16. Ichikawa Koikuchi
This Japanese performer auditioned for BGT earlier this year with an audition that shocked the judges. His performance involved farting into a party blower and even blowing out candles on a birthday cake with — you guessed it — his farts.
15. Chapel Hart
This country trio won over the judges with their audition for Season 17 of AGT, which earned the group Golden Buzzer. The group performed an original song called “You Can Have Him Jolene.” They ended up making it to the Finals.
14. Tape Face
It’s definitely hard to forget this contestant from Season 11 of AGT, whose completely silent routine had everyone smiling — including Cowell. Tape Face made it to the Finals, and he later returned to compete on AGT: The Champions.
13. Calum Scott
Scott received the Golden Buzzer from Cowell during Series 9 of BGT. For his audition, Scott delivered an emotional performance of “Dancing on My Own” by Robyn. In Tuesday’s special, Cowell told Crews that he remembers thinking Scott would be a “massive star.”
12. Avery Dixon
This saxophone player from Season 17 of AGT earned the Golden Buzzer from host Terry Crews. Avery ended up making it to the Finals. He returned for AGT: All-Stars earlier this year and finished the competition in second place.
11. Ashleigh and Pudsey
This dog act won Series 6 of BGT. Cowell is known for his love of dog acts, and this one was no different. Pudsey sadly passed away in 2017, and Ashleigh competed on AGT: The Champions with a new dog named Sully.
10. Ben Lapidus
During Season 17 of AGT, this singer received four red buzzers from the judges for his song about always wanting more parmesan cheese at Italian restaurants. However, the audience convinced the panel to send him through.
9. The Sacred Riana
During Season 13 of AGT, this magician (who previously won Asia’s Got Talent) terrified the judges and audience with her creepy audition. She ended up making it to the Quarterfinals and later returned to compete on AGT: The Champions.
8. Drake Milligan
During Season 17 of AGT, this charming young country singer and his band impressed the judges with an original song. Drake made it all the way to the Finals and has since released his debut album, Dallas/Forth Worth.
7. Zurcaroh
This unique acrobatic group auditioned for Season 13 of AGT, earning the Golden Buzzer from host Tyra Banks. They ended up finishing the competition in second place. Cowell said he “couldn’t believe it” when he first saw them perform.
6. Shin Lim
In Season 13, this magician auditioned for AGT with a stylish sleight of hand routine that mesmerized the audience. He went on to win the entire season and later returned for the first season of AGT: The Champions, which he also won.
5. Archie Williams
This singer auditioned for Season 15 of AGT, singing singing Elton John’s “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.” He shared that he had been wrongly imprisoned for 37 years. Archie made it to the Finals and later returned to compete on AGT: All-Stars.
4. Men with Pans
This outrageous act from Season 12 of AGT featured two men in chef’s hats dancing around while covering their privates with frying pans. During Tuesday’s special, Cowell said he expected the act to be boring. He was very wrong.
3. Mayyas
In Season 17 of AGT, this all-female dance group from Lebanon wowed the judges and earned Sofia Vergara’s Golden Buzzer for their mesmerizing audition. They went on to become the first dance group to ever win America’s Got Talent.
2. Musa Motha
Earlier this year, this dancer auditioned for BGT and shared the story of having his leg amputated. That didn’t stop him from delivering a stunning dance routine. Musa made it to the Finals and finished the competition in fifth place.
1. Susan Boyle
This singer made waves with her audition for Series 3 of BGT, in which she delivered a gorgeous performance of “I Dreamed a Dream.” Cowell called her “the perfect example of ‘never judge a book by its cover.'” She finished the show in second place.
The Jefferson Davis High School Marching Vols out of Montgomery, Alabama should have been one of Simon’s most memorable AGT auditions! The drum majors led by head drum major Justin “Vanilla Funk” Heideman were crushing it with all those moves! A big shout out to the JD drum majors and band for putting on an absolute memorable show! The JD Marching Vols being on AGT will be a memory that the band will never forget! Go JD Vols!
