Katy Perry Set to Narrate Elizabeth Taylor Biopic Podcast “Elizabeth The First”

Katy Perry is adding podcast narrator to her resume in 2022. This American Idol judge set to narrate the upcoming podcast series, “Elizabeth The First” based on Elizabeth Taylor’s life. Although there isn’t a current release date for the podcast, it’s slated to drop this spring.
On March 30, the organization House of Taylor, announced an upcoming podcast about Elizabeth Taylor’s life and influence. For those who don’t know, House of Taylor strives to preserve and sustain Elizabeth Taylor’s legacy through partnerships and products that support the movie star’s vision. They promise never-heard-before stories about the legendary actress within the upcoming series.
House of Taylor Announces Elizabeth The First, a Podcast Series About Elizabeth Taylor
The company named Perry as the narrator of the podcast within the Instagram announcement. Elizabeth The First provides an inside look at the life of the classic Hollywood cinema star. The 10 episode series tells stories of Taylor’s battle with the studio system, fragrance empire, love of jewelry and more.
Perry acts as the narrator within the series, but stories will come directly from the people who were close to the actress. Even though Taylor passed away in 2011, the podcast will contain audio from the House of Taylor archives.
I think each episode of the podcast will touch on a different portion of Taylor’s life. Reports state that the series includes Taylor’s negotiation for her $1 million dollar role of “Cleopatra,” her record-breaking Christie’s auction, and more. There’s a lot of history behind Taylor’s career, so I expect an extension to this podcast depending on popularity.
Katy Perry Calls Narrating This Podcast an Honor
Similar to many, Perry has a deep respect for the late actress and her work. In a recent statement, the pop singer noted that she was first attracted to Taylor’s glamour and has since found herself referencing the late actress through her visuals.
“I’m inspired by her bold activism, her constant boss moves in business, and through it all, an unapologetic way of loving — all things I try to live in my own life,” Perry said. “It’s an honor to be able to share her story in this way.”
The popstar has not shared any information about the upcoming podcast series on her social media pages at this time. Elizabeth The First premieres later this spring on every streaming service. A release date has not been announced at this time. Imperative Entertainment produces the upcoming podcast in association with House of Taylor. Perry is an executive producer of the podcast itself alongside acting as the narrator.
