Charli D’Amelio is Currently the Biggest Teen Star on TikTok

From filming short video clips for TikTok, she was then given an opportunity to appear in a Super Bowl commercial and ultimately do the Super Bowl Challenge with JLo. She also played the voice of Tinker in an animated movie StarDog and TurboCat. Apart from these, Charli became an author of a book and she also works with Morphe, Dunkin’, and Hollister.

These jaw-dropping milestones happened merely within a year and it all started when she went viral on TikTok. Today, she continues to cement her name in the entertainment industry. Let’s take a closer look at Charli’s career and how she continues to gain fan support.

She Spent Her Childhood Dancing in Connecticut

The TikTok star grew up in Norwalk, Connecticut along with her sister Dixie D’Amelio and her parents Marc and Heidi D’Amelio. Before rising to fame in 2019, she was known locally as a competitive dancer. Her past Instagram posts prove that she practically lived in a dance studio, jiving on hip hop routines with several others.

Charli began filming TikTok videos with her friends before making videos of her own on the app. The teen star has noted that she created her own account after making videos with her friends on the app.

Charli’s first glance with fame was when she dueted the user “move_with_joy,” following a simple dance routine. The video was soon picked up by the algorithm and she gained over five million followers from the clip.

Soon after the creation of her account and her first viral dance, Charli took over the TikTok dance scene with the “Renegade” by K-Camp Lottery dance. Soon enough, dance videos flooded her account, reaching millions of views during her first months on the platform. Following the “Renegade” her account continued to grow exponentially.

Although the dancer gained popularity from the dance, it’s important to remember that she was not the original creator of the dance. After brief online drama, Charli gave credit to the original creator, Jalaiah Harmon, they even created a video doing the dance together.

Charli D’Amelio Breaks into Hollywood

Due to Charli’s TikTok success, she joined the creator house, Hype House with other personalities. For those who may not know, this content creator house was a mansion where all of the personalities lived and created videos together. Due to Charli and Dixie’s ages, they did not live in the house.

Soon after the D’Amelio’s joined the Hype House, they left when their motives became business based. During this time, it was reported that Charli had broken up with Hype House member Chase Hudson. Many believe their breakup prompted her depature.

Even though leaving The Hype House was a loss to some, the D’Amelio family soon signed to the UTA talent agency to expand their careers. The girls signed in all aspects of entertainment to the company, while their parents agreed to collaborate.

Why She Got Cancelled

Aside from “stealing” the “Renegade” dance, Charli has found herself deep in some other internet beef. During the family’s debut episode of YouTube series Dinner With the D’Amelios, many think that Charli was acting bratty while discussing her TikTok following.

“Ugh, I wish I had, like, more time because imagine if I hit 100 mil a year after hitting a mil,” she casually said.

While many thought that Charli was boasting about her large following, many realized that her tone implied something else. Her expression made it appear that she was complaining about not hitting 100 million yet.

Upon watching the video, internet users were quick to call her out for being “too privileged” and “rude.” Subsequently, fans started to unfollow her on TikTok. Within 24 hours, D’Amelio lost a million followers after the incident. Soon enough, Charli clarified her intent and spoke about how toxic cancel culture is. Eventually, she gained some followers back.
