Dancing With the Stars returned to Disney+ with a shocking Semi-Final episode. Although the dances and scores were pretty expected, there were two major announcements made by pro Witney Carson and head judge Len Goodman.

Top Three Pairs Defend Their Place on The Leaderboard

The competitive night featured each pair performing one ballroom dance and one latin dance. The night kicked off with Wayne Brady and his partner Witney Carson’s personal Paso Doble. Ahead of performing to “Beggin'” Måneskin, the actor explained that he had to beg for his wife back at one point. This dance earned the pair 36 out of 40 points.

Following this pair was Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas returned to the dance floor with their best dance yet. The well-performing pair once again impressed with their impressive technique and polished routine. They earned yet another perfect score with a Viennese Waltz to “Glimpse of Us” by Joji.

Lastly, Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy performed a beautiful Waltz, about being in sync. Ahead of the performance, Gabby explained that her and Erich Schwer called it quit due to being out of sync with what they want. This dance was so stunning that they earned another perfect score.

Round Two Shakes up The Competition

The competition truly got tight with the second round of dances, where the lower-scoring pairs were striving to shine. One of the first pairs to perform in the second round was Daniel Durant and Britt Stewart came to the second round with vengeance. In the second performance, they danced the Samba to “Light It Up (Remix)” by Major Lazer ft. Nyla & Fuse ODG. The energetic performance earned them 34 out of 40, making their final score for the night 69 out of 80 points.

After earning 36 out of 40 points with their first routine, Shangela and Gleb Savchenko were determined to make it into the finale. Their final dance of the night was a Viennese Waltz to “I Have Nothing,” by Whitney Houston. They earned 37 out of 40 points on this dance, making their total of the night 73 out of 80 points.

After earning 32 points on his Cha Cha, Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater returned to the dance floor with an emotional Viennese Waltz to “Count On Me” by Judah Kelly. The dance, dedicated to Emma, earned the pair a 33 out of 40, totaling 65 out of 80 for the entire night.

Double Elimination is Close

At the end of the night, Trevor and Emma were once again at the bottom of the leaderboard, while Gabby and Val and Charli and Mark held the top place. Just like last week, the couple with the lowest combined judge score and viewer votes is eliminated automatically. The other two pairs at the bottom are deliberated upon by the judges.

The bottom three of the night was Trevor and Emma, Daniel and Britt, and Shangela and Gleb. The first couple eliminated was Trevor and Emma. After deliberations, the judges saved Shangela and Gleb. Fans were excited to see this, since Shangela has teased that Gleb will also dress in drag for the finale.

The Dancing With the Stars season 31 finale airs live on Disney+ on Monday November, 21 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. According to the hosts of the show, there will be a special, surprise performance, as well as a performance featuring Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert.
