Nominations for the 97th Academy Awards were announced on Thursday. In the category of Actress in a Supporting Role, Grande was nominated for Wicked — alongside Monica Barbaro for A Complete Unknown, Felicity Jones for The Brutalist, Isabella Rossellini for Conclave, and Zoe Saldaña for Emilia Pérez.

Following the announcement, Grande took to Instagram to share a collection of photos and clips reflecting on her journey to the role of Glinda — including a shot of her childhood self dressed as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, as well as a clip of her singing “The Wizard and I” when she was younger.

“Picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition,” Grande wrote in the post’s caption. “I cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise.”

She added that she’s “humbled and deeply honored” to receive the nomination, writing that she’s “sharing this with tiny Ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ just before the big, beautiful bubble entered.”

Grande Also Thanked Cynthia Erivo

In her post, Grande also shouted out Wicked‘s director Jon M. Chu, “for taking this chance on me and for being the most unbelievably brilliant leader, human being, and most fierce friend.” She then mentioned her co-star Cynthia Erivo, who was nominated for Actress in a Leading Role for playing Elphaba.

“I am so proud of my Elphie, my sister, my dear @cynthiaerivo,” Grande wrote in her caption. “Your brilliance is never ending and you deserve every flower (tulip) in every garden. I love you unconditionally, always.”

Grande ended her post by writing that she doesn’t “quite have all my words yet, I’m still trying to breathe.” Fans can watch to see if Grande takes home the Oscar when the ceremony airs on Sunday, March 2, on ABC.
