Dolly Parton Says Chapel Hart’s Song is ‘A Fun New Take’ on “Jolene”

America’s Got Talent‘s newest Golden Buzzer recipient has received an even greater honor. The queen of country, Dolly Parton, has shared their audition, saying great things about their song inspired by her.
If you missed it, Danica Hart, Devynn Hart, and Trea Swindle took the America’s Got Talent stage as Chapel Hart, singing their original song “You Can Have Him Jolene.” Ahead of their performance, they explained that they love Dolly Parton so much that their original song is a play on one of her hits.
“We were so inspired by the song ‘Jolene’ and we just love the storyline. We figured though from 1973 to 2022 we could not still be fighting over the same man,” Danica said. “So we decided to tell her you can just have him Jolene.”
The storyline of Parton’s hit features the singer begging “Jolene” not to take her man, while Chapel Hart’s song features them telling “Jolene” to take him. The audience and judges thought their tune was a fun play on the hit song Tuesday night, but the country legend herself recently acknowledged their tune.

Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn Praise Chapel Hart
On July 20, Parton reshared AGT‘s video of Chapel Hart, stating that their song is “a fun new take on my song.” She then joked that the day was her husband’s birthday, so she wasn’t going to notify Jolene.
On top of Parton’s response to the song, country legend Loretta Lynn commented on the performance. It’s clear that she loved the performance just as much as Parton, even though it wasn’t her song.
“I love it, ladies. Now I’m wondering what you might be able to do with one of my songs!” she wrote.
The group celebrated both responses on their Instagram, stating “Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn IN THE SAME DAY?!?!? WHAT IS LIFE ?!?!?” We can’t wait to see what Chapel Hart performs in the upcoming AGT live shows.
Chapel Hart Becomes a Stand Out Contestant in America’s Got Talent Season 17
Since this group’s Golden Buzzer performance, their original song has brought in almost 2.5 million views on YouTube. Other acts from this season have gone viral, but not as quick as this country trio. Even though it is very early in the competition, this could be very telling for Chapel Hart.
Chapel Hart has celebrated more than country legends reaching out to them since their performance. They’re currently celebrating the accomplishments of their 2021 album The Girls Are Back in Town. The album is currently No. 1 on the iTunes Country Albums Chart and No. 3 on the iTunes All Genre Albums Chart behind Lizzo’s Special (No. 1) and Yo Gotti’s Gangsta Art (No. 2).
We’ve seen it before with singing acts and I’m sure we’re seeing it again. Even though it’s pretty early in the competition, Chapel Hart is currently securing their fanbase. They may truly be the contestants to beat on this season of America’s Got Talent.

Im not overly a country music fan, but this song deff had me wanting to hear more. The energy and joy you could feel and see not only from the singers but the audience was quite moving. Im looking forward to seeing more form these guys going forward.
