The Voice returned to NBC on Tuesday, October 14 for the second part of the Battle Rounds. For those who may not know, battle rounds are the second round of the competition, where singers on the same team perform against each other. In the past, coaches paired singers together, but this season singers get to choose their battle-mate.

In case you haven’t seen the Battle Round before, battle advisors are featured in this round of the competition, to help coaches prepare their artists for the next round. This season’s battle advisors are Lewis Capaldi, Lizzo, Nick Jonas, and Kelsea Ballerini. They will aid the teams of Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, and Michael Bublé, respectively. Once again, coaches will have one Steal and one Save. Steal makes it so a coach can take someone from another team, while Save makes it so one singer doesn’t go home.

Comeback Artists Battle for Spot in The Knockouts

The night began with Team Reba, specifically the pairing of Letter to Elise against Ryan Mitchell. After reminding the audience that a member of Letter to Elise had previously been denied from the show, and Ryan received this season’s Carson Callback, the trio sang “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” by Simple Minds.

Coaches were seen getting out of their chairs to dance and clap to this performance. The coaches complimented each of the singers, but focused on Ryan’s ability to match the duo. Unsurprisingly, Ryan won the Battle Round. After the announcement, McEntire went on about how great he has been on her team. Additionally, Carson Daly congratulated him, saying he’s glad he could help.

Up next was Snoop Dogg’s team. The first pair was Sadie Hall against Toni Lorene. They sang “Love on The Brain” by Rihanna. Coaches loved this performance, noting that both singers were able to show off the best parts of their voices. Snoop Dogg explained that the pair made it “really hard” for him to make a decision. Ultimately, Snoop Dogg chose Toni Lorene as the winner of the battle. Lucky for Sadie, her time on the show wasn’t cut short, Horan hit his Steal for her.

The following battle was between Michael Bublé’s team members, Lucas Beltran and Max Cooper III. The jazz singers performed “It’s a Beautiful Day” by their coach. Although the performance was great, some of the coaches felt they didn’t fully make the song their own. Bublé chose Max as the winner of the battle.

Niall Horan’s Team Impresses With Country Battle

Finally, Horan’s team took the stage for the first time of the episode. This battle was between Kayleigh Clark and Camille Tredoux. Together, they performed “Cowboys Cry Too” by Kelsea Ballerini. Coaches loved how different Kayleigh and Camille’s voices are, yet their performance was so great.

While the country song showed off Kayleigh’s country tone, coaches noted that Camille’s ability to sing multiple genres was extremely impressive. Eventually, Horan chose Kayleigh as the winner of the battle. Also battling on this episode was Alex Brown and Liam Von Elbe. They performed “Linger” by The Cranberries, and Horan announced Liam as the winner.

The next battle was between Carly Harvey and Marty O’Reilly. Together, they sang “At This Moment” by Billy Vera & The Beaters. The competition was tight in this battle, both singers had coaches standing at the end. Ultimately, Bublé chose Marty as the winner of the competition.

The final battle of the night was between Team Reba members Aubrey Nicole and Cori Kennedy. They sang “Somethin’ Bad” by Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert. McEntire chose Cori as the winner of the battle. Luckily, Aubrey’s time on the series is not over, McEntire hit the save button, while Snoop Dogg hit the steal button. Aubrey chose to remain on McEntire’s team.
