Derek Hough Took Hayley Erbert on a Helicopter Ride Before Proposing to Her

Following the June 2 announcement of Derek Hough’s engagement, the professional dancer shared a video about the day leading up to their proposal. Before proposing to his longtime girlfriend, they went on a helicopter ride over one of their favorite places, the Yosemite.
Derek Hough Reveals Activities Leading up to His Engagement With Hayley Erbert
On the day of the engagement announcement, It was revealed that Derek Hough planned the special day alongside Troy Williams of Simply Troy Lifestyle + Events. At the time, Williams explained that Hough had to get Erbert out of the house for the afternoon so they could set up for the proposal.
After almost a week, Hough has revealed the details behind their out-of-home romantic plans. The professional dancer had a friend call Erbert and offer a helicopter ride in honor of Hough’s birthday.
“She’s so thoughtful I knew she would do it if she thought it was for my birthday. See what I did there;))) Not to mention we would fly over one of our most specials places, Yosemite,” Hough wrote.
To ensure Erbert wouldn’t ruin the surprise by checking on their animals via security cameras, Hough stole her phone during the helicopter ride. The professional dancer ended his caption stating that she had no idea what was waiting for her at home.

Since Hough shared their romantic proposal day video, fans are dying to see the proposal itself. Even though his video was a total set up to a proposal video, the professional dancer didn’t post a follow up. Instead, a video on a boat.
Derek Hough, Hayley Erbert Confirm Engagement
Hough and Erbert confirmed their engagement on June 2 via Instagram. Their social media announcement featured an intimate photo of Erbert in Hough’s arms with color coordinated decorations surrounding them. Hough captioned the photo saying that “it’s only the beginning… the beginning of forever.”
On the day of the engagement confirmation, Williams revealed that the special day was Hough’s birthday (May 17). As soon as Hough got Erbert out of their home, Williams totally transformed the room. He used 202 candles, white peonies, and nude champagne roses. Each decoration perfectly matched the colors of their home.
Erbert and Hough began dating in July 2015 after first meeting at Derek and Julianne Hough’s Move Live Tour a year prior. A year into their relationship, Erbert joined the cast of Dancing With the Stars alongside her boyfriend. This engagement has been years in the making, whether the couple knew it or not. Hough has continually fake proposal announcements since explaining that he felt no pressure to walk down the aisle.
